Scott Pinhorne
Hi All Apologises if this has been posted and i have missed it, i am new here. I have a HP server which has 8 disks connected via a blackplane RAID controller. I have removed any RAID config so all disks sit standalone on the backplane in the hope that UNRAID will find them and make them usable but this isn't the case. Do i meed to do anything such as put them into a RAID setup (which seems odd). Diagnostics attached :-) Many thanks in advance tower-diagnostics-20181126-0748.zip Link to comment
JorgeB
RAID controllers are not recommend, but if you want to use you need to create virtual disks, or use each disk as a raid0 device, depending on the controller, but the best way would be to get an HBA. Link to comment
Scott Pinhorne
Thank you - created them all as individual virtual disks and i am away! Cheers Link to comment
JorgeB
Good, just be aware that if in the future you connect those disks to a different controller Unraid will complain that the disks are wrong since the identifiers will change, one of the reasons RAID controllers are not recommended, though they can be used as long as you understand the limitations.
