disk read errors

Featured Replies

Not sure what to do about this disk (disk 10)? It has had many crc errors. Ive tried new cables and locating the disk to a different slot in the server but that hasn't helped. Seatools doesn't find any problems with the disk. Now the disk has dropped offline completely for some reason. Any advice???

Since there's no SMART for that disk see if it comes online after rebooting and post ne diags.

No luck. Shows “Not Installed” after reboot.

Check/replace cables, if disk still not detected it's likely dead.

Been on the road, just got home. As soon as I touched the latch for the drive cage the HDD itself spun up. Makes me wonder if the latch isn't holding the drive fully seated in the slot? Might try a little foam tape or similar and see if that helps.

I have re-assigned the drive to the proper slot. Data rebuild is in progress. I've attached current diagnostics just to be sure there are no other surprises. I know CRC Error Count is 150. This has remained constant for the past several months though.

Disk looks mostly fine, and earlier issues look connection related, though you should keep an eye on this attribute:
