Unraid only using one cache disk?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I noticed, that my cache is constantly full when I'm downloading something etc.

So I checked which shares use all my space, but only 111,98GB are listed in the "compute all" tab.

This would pretty much fill my 120GB 2nd Cache drive. However, I also have a 500GB SSD assigned to the cache pool.

There should be plenty of space free but "Fix common problems" tells me, that my cache is full sometimes and read/write speeds are very slow and dockers stopp working when I try to copy some files.

Is something wrong with the configuration of my 500GB SSD?

Default cache profile is RAID1 for redundancy, which means only 120GB is usable in a pool with a 120 and a 500.

ok, can I change it to raid0?

I don't keep important files on the cache, so I don't need the redundancy.

//I will probably just remove the smaller drive using this tutorial, as 500GB should be enough cache for me.

Thanks!

I had the exact same issue.  I had to run the balancer in the  webGUI  to get it to use all of the disks.
Go to the 'Main' tab and click on the first cache disk.   Scroll down to 'Balance Status' and enter:

-dconvert=single -mconvert=raid1

Then click 'Balance'.  This took a day or two before the change took affect for me.

The above command changes the 'data' format to JBOD and the meta-data to RAID1.  From what I read, the recommendation is to always leave meta-data to RAID1.

BTW, RAID0 will give you 240GB iirc.

If you want to use the full capacity of both disks, single is the correct option, like @Atreya said.

Oh, ok thank you!

I'll try using just my 500GB, if I need more I'll have a look at @Atreya's solution!
