Endy
Just wondering if this is a sign that the usb flash drive I'm using for Unraid is dying. I've been using it for as long as I've had Unraid which is about 3 and a half years and I've had no problems until recently. It seems that whenever I reboot my server the flash drive disappears from the bios and because of that Unraid fails to boot. At that point if I move the flash drive to another usb port the bios picks it up again and boots just fine once it is selected as the boot device again. Quote Link to comment
Frank1940
Make sure that you are using USB2 ports (normally, these have a black plastic inset) rather than a USB3 ports (blue plastic insert). (Some MB's have issues booting Unraid from USB3 ports.) Quote Link to comment

I was sure this wasn't the issue, but then I remembered that I made some hardware changes to my server a few months ago and could no longer use the internal usb port I was using before. None of the usb ports on the back of the case are usb 2.0 and that was where I moved the flash drive to. For the moment I can only try putting the flash drive in one of the front usb ports (that are 2.0) and see what happens. However, it is still a bit weird because I am sure that I must have rebooted the server at least once or twice between when I did the hardware changes and when I recently started having problems.
