July 12, 20196 yr .... without losing data? I've got an 'archive' share containing various stuff and want to rename it to 'discussions' without moving/losing and data, possible or do i need to setup a new share and relocate all of the data, a bit of a pain to do? July 12, 20196 yr Community Expert Shares, are just top level folders, you can rename them, you'll just need to do it for every disk the share uses.

It can't be done just within the 'Shares' settings then which seems to address all of the disks? I need to make all disks visible and rename all shares within them (would this be from a windows pc)?

July 15, 20196 yr Author It was ... but not for everything and i find myself in a bit of a mess. I have two user shares, 'archive' and 'movies' which have content on the same disk. I need to migrate one shares contents to the other ... archive ----> movies but each file i've tried insists on going through a full blown move, I just want the data to stay where it is physically but logically to change shares., surely its just a link, must be possible, but how? July 16, 20196 yr Author Fantastic! Just made me a 'Movies' folder in the same disk as my 'Archives' share in Windows and 'move'd everything across logically. No physical moves at all, just saved me 4 days of work on my little microserver ;>))
July 16, 20196 yr Community Expert Just be aware that you should never move data from disk shares to user shares and vice-versa, you can move from user shares to user shares and disk shares to disk shares.
