November 4, 201015 yr Excellent, I can finally add a parity drive to my new box, been getting a little nervous waiting for them to hit 80 again. (Also don't forget they don't include the jumper)
November 4, 201015 yr Sorry for the slightly OT post. I just built an Unraid server and am brand new so I wasn't aware of the jumper requirement for these drives. I have three of them in my system that are currently about 16 hours into a preclean (no jumpers). Do I need to stop and start over with a new preclean after installing these jumpers or can I just finish the preclean, add the jumpers, and then add the drives to my array? Where is a good place to find this sort of information about jumper requirements? I've got three other types of drives (WD10EACS, WD7500AACS, and ST31500341AS) that I'd like to eventually add to my array. Thanks! -David

The drives will have been exercised, but the sector with the preclear-signature no longer accessible. There are other posts describing what you'll need to do after adding the jumpers. One thing you can do to help me after you add the jumper, but before doing anything else with the drive, is to get the output of fdisk -l /dev/sdX and post it here for me. (where sdX = the correct device for your disk) I'd like to see how it reports the geometry.
November 4, 201015 yr Check out the combo with the Corsair 750HX. If you use both discount codes BFCORPSU, 10% of corsair psu and EMCZZYR25, 10% off hard drives. Pretty sure they will both work because they are for different producs but not 100% certain. You are essentially getting the PSU for $64 after a $20 rebate. Not bad if you need one. Good today Nov 4 only.
November 4, 201015 yr I bought 2 of these and they arrived yesterday. Best packaging ever from Newegg. Each drive in its own box in special plastic brackets. Zero bubblewrap. (I probably just jinxed myself). Couple other interesting facts. Not advanced format and manufacturer date was 9/28/10. I thought there drives had been replaced with the EARS drives, but sure looks like they may still be making them. Based on date and no adv format I think rumors that some EADS are advanced format are likely false.
November 4, 201015 yr Just ordered another one (in addition to the 3 others I have enroute!). These sub 90.00 prices make rapid media center expansion obtainable!!

This is after preclear completed successfully, I powered down and added the jumper, and then powered up. ----- Disk /dev/sdc: 2000.3 GB, 2000398934016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 243201 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdc1 1 243202 1953514552+ 0 Empty Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.

It is now responding as expected. Note... if you pre-cleared first, then added the jumper, the drive is no longer pre-cleared. It will not be considered as pre-cleared by unRAID.
