(SOLVED) 6.7.2 Network problems

Featured Replies

Hi there,

i just build a Microstar 12 bay server and everything is fairly good working but i'm having issues with ehternet.

The mainboard have 4 ethernet ports eth0 to eth3, and 2 SPF+ from a NIC, well recognized and so...

The thing is that the array can't be started since it says no internet connection, but the eth0 (that is the one that has the DNS to configure seems ok). Actually it worked some moment, but i had to shutdown the server to add some discs and lost it, lost the bonding of the 2 SPF+ also...

Actually i sovled it by just tinkering on options.

SOLUTION:

- There is an option on the SPF+ eth4 that is bridging that was the one in conflict with eth0, just put OFF there and the internet connection was alright.

Any hint or idea on that?

I am planning to buy a licence, but that is the final step on setting everything up and working, and of course "i" need internet too on it.

Thanks,

Carles

I solved it.

As I recall, when you have more than one ethernet interface, things can become dicey when it comes to determining which one may end up being defined as eth0.  I think you have to go to Settings  >>>   Networking Settings and then to eth0 to specify a specific MAC address be assigned to it rather than allowing the OS to (somewhat) arbitrarily assign one.
