September 22, 20196 yr Hello everyone. My daughter accidentally broke the usb-key, my fault for having the server on the floor.. I replaced the usb without any problems, but i have no idea wich one of these 3 disks that was the Parity one. Is there any way to tell what disk i should choose? Thanks in advance!
September 22, 20196 yr If you assign them all as data disks the parity will be the one that comes up as uncountable when you start the array. Stop the array and then tools, new config and assignment correctlySent from my NSA monitored device
September 22, 20196 yr Author Ty so much for the reply Squid! I just need to ask another question, what option should i use here? Im afraid i will choose the wrong one, and end up with empty disks <edit> And should "Array Devices" have no devices selected while doing the new config? September 22, 20196 yr Community Expert It does not matter as far as retains data is concerned. The only difference is how much of the current drive assignments are carried forward to the Main tab for you to then edit before starting the array. Carrying them forward tends to minimise the chance of you subsequently making an incorrect assignment. I would suggest you try one of them and see how they operate.
September 22, 20196 yr Author This is how it looks now. Im not sure about that warning to the right 🤯 I have not tried to start the array yet, since it looks like it will be wiped? Edited September 22, 20196 yr by Vader
September 22, 20196 yr Community Expert If you think parity is good then you can tick the “parity is Valid” check box before starting the array and then parity is not rebuilt. However you only want to do that if you are sure it is correct.
September 22, 20196 yr Author Thank you all so much for the incredible help and support. Im not taking any chances, so i will let it rebuild
