November 21, 201015 yr Good price in Canada for the Cooler Master 690 at newegg.ca. Cooler Master is saying this is the replacement for the 590. Not sure I'm sold, but it *does* have almost 2000 reviews with a 5-egg rating average... http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-11-119-137-_-Product&AID=10657534&PID=749547&SID=forums&nm_mc=AFC-C8junctionCA [EDIT] Just noticed there appears to be 3 models of the 690. Great naming convention Cooler Master! Not sure if this is the one to get... [/EDIT] [EDIT2]Added a screenshot of the comparison, for anyone interested...[/EDIT2]
November 21, 201015 yr I was told by coolermaster the 690 II advanced is the replacement either way any of the 690's have less 5.25 bays than the 590 but it is a beautiful case I do prefer that the 690's are black inside and out but having less flexibility and costing more will prob prevent me from buying it personally but that sale price is good for you guys up north
November 21, 201015 yr I went with a 690 II Advanced on my new server build and I am very happy with it. I didn't want to buy 3 hot-swap enclosures at close to $100 each and didn't want to have to deal with hard drive cages. I love the side loaded design of the 690 internal drives and will probably end up buying two 3-in-2 hot-swap bays (currently about $65 each for the ones I am looking at) when I need to expand giving a total of 12 drives in the case. To me the side loaded design of the internals with the tool-less trays really helps when dealing with the internal drives. Yeah you need to remove both side panels but it's almost of the same benefit of the hot-swap bays without the price tag in my opinion.
November 22, 201015 yr yea it just depends on the convenience you want.....if you have 9 ext 5.25 bays then you could go with 3 coolermaster 4 in 3's at $20 a piece and have space for 12 dives for the cost of 1 of your 3 in 2's but they aren't hot swap so less convenient
