Cache BTRFS Raid0 balance

Featured Replies

I have 2x 1.6TB nvme cache drives that I wanted to use in Raid0 (I backup appdata externally).

Using the command "-dconvert=raid0 -mconvert=raid1" to convert

For over 24hrs now, the balance is stuck at 82% and syslog is spitting out many lines of "found 1 extents" every 5 seconds.

I've seen other threads saying "found x extents" is just btrfs balancing, but I'm wondering why it's stuck at 82% and what I can do to fix this.

It's likely stuck, you can try again after rebooting but it will probably get stuck again, and if you haven't yet backed up any important data on the poo, before rebooting.

Are you thinking the cache drives are failing?

I'm not sure how common it is or why this btrfs balance stalls.

No, most likely some issue with the filesytem, probably will need to re-format the pool, unless it finishes after a reboot.

It finished after reboot in a couple seconds.  Yay!
