Removing cache pool

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have problem with my cache pool and want to remove the two SSDs i have right now in BTFRS (raid 1 i think) with only 1 big ssd.

I read the faq and they talk about removing a drive from the cache pool but they say to not go below the requirement of the pool. In my case the requirement would be 2 drives minimum. So how do i do it?

Would

1. set All shares to "no" in use cache disk.

2. Activate the mover to remove the data from the cache disk.

3 stop the array.

4.pull the disks.

5 insert the new ssd.

6. Set the shares i want to 'yes' in use cache disk.

7. reactivate the mover?

Btw in the faq it says for the 1 disk, remove or upgrade procedure, to set the shares to 'yes' in use cache disk , is it a typo?

thanks a lot.

Nope. You need to follow the FAQ as written for the remove or upgrade procedure. Turn on the GUI help and read the descriptions of what the different cache modes do.
