Another possibility is to install unRAID-web through the package-manager of unMENU and use AjaxExplorer to copy your files to the unRAID disks.  It will at least then not be copied over the LAN twice.

Hi Joe,

I'm trying to copy files off external drives via ajaxexplorer.  I installed unRAID-web through the package manager but I'm unsure how to transfer files from my external disks.  I see everything in my unRAID box; flash drive and internal sata drives...  but I can't see the external drive (attached to the unRAID box via USB, and can't seem to mount the drive over my LAN)

I was also reading this thread, http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3354.240

If I have 4GB of RAM in my unRAID machine I can only transfer files less then 4GB?  I'm looking to transfer mostly 10GB .mkv files.

thanks for any clues

I ended up using Midnight Commander via the console and am in the process of copying data off my usb external disks to the internal disks in my unRAID machine.  MC shows that I am writing to the disks at ~32MB/s.  Is this a typical speed from a usb disk?

Also, now that I'm happily copying away, I realize that some of my prior questions had been answered/explained in this thread and other areas of this website.  Sorry for my ignorance and once again, thanks for the greatly appreciated help.

hope everyone is having a happy holiday.

cheers,

sean
