December 6, 201015 yr Has anyone set up an eyefi pro x2 card? If so how did you do it. Also would a cache drive be a good idea?
December 6, 201015 yr I have a couple of Eye-Fi's. What are you having trouble with? I have the service running on one of my desktops and the files go straight to an unRAID share.
December 6, 201015 yr Author I am not having problems as I have not installed it yet. Could you be so kind as to describe how you did it. If I understand you correctly you have it set to save the pics to your computer first and then copy to your unraid? do you have a script that copies to your servernor did you set it up to one of the user shares directly? Also did you assign a static ip address. Thank you for yor response.
December 7, 201015 yr I imagine what StevenD is doing is running the EyeFi application on a desktop computer, then setting the default save location to a share on his unRAID server. EyeFi doesn't know or care that the default save location is located on the unRAID server instead of the desktop. Your cache drive question is quite vague. First read this: To Cache drive or not to Cache drive? ...then let me know if you have any specific questions.
December 7, 201015 yr Author I was wondering if he had the destination folder if you will on a cache drive. I thought I wanted to go the cache route but now I have second thoughts. As you can tell I am a new user to unraid. With the help of some fantastic folks on this site u and several others have taken a complete newb from a google search finding unraid to step by step buying all the hardware from scratch to having to disks showing on my array as we speak. So thanks to you all for that. I am at the point of setting up shares and copying files. I wish there were a post showing different routes you can take to set up your box the way you want. Your hardware builds are priceless to a newb such as myself. I have installed unmenu and some other scripts which has also been a big help. Back on the topic I was wondering if others had set up the eyefi card and if so how. I know how to set it up on a local computer but I guess you have to keep one of the computers on so the " center " can stay on then you can set the folders on the unraid box which I guess is where I was going before I got on the side note. Should I create a share for the eyefi card or add a folder in the pictures share? I have other issues to sort out but I don't want to hijack my own thread. Thanks for listening. Can you tell I'm on unraid overload?
December 7, 201015 yr I have no need for a cache drive in my unRAID...I get fast enough writes. So, yes, you install the EyeFi app on a Windows computer that is always available and in the EyeFi app, you can choose where you want the pic to go. Mine go to \\tower\Photos\EyeFiUpload. From there, it creates folders based on the date the pic was taken.
