December 7, 201015 yr - I guess I misunderstood. I thought that when a cache drive was full, it would spill over to the protected disk? I'm filling a new array and when the cache drive filled everything just stopped - taracopy handles it well, I started the mover and taracopy would start again if I hadn't paused it. December 7, 201015 yr As it has been explained to me, it's sort of a matter of timing and dependent on how you are copying your files.
December 7, 201015 yr Author That explains it - Thank you, loose nut between the chair and keyboard. I had set the min free space value wrong or too small anyway.
December 8, 201015 yr When the cache drive is full, it WILL NOT spill over into the protected disks. The transfer will fail (or if you are using TeraCopy, it will pause). You then have to either wait for the mover script to run or kick it off manually (there's a button on the shares page) before you can send more data to the cache drive.
December 9, 201015 yr To further that explanation. Some programs will cause unRAID to first create the directory structure before filling it. Some will even first create empty "placeholder" files and then fill those files. So, the directory and empty file get created on the cache and then as it filled the cache runs out of room. If the free space is set right and/or the files are copied one at a time then it should spill over. FYI, you can also have the same type of issue moving large blocks of data directly to a data disk. In some cases, the share won't move on to the next disk in line. Peter
