New Server Stuck on Mounting Drive

Featured Replies

I have built a new server with 2 500GB Maxtor drives.

I have set each drive to its position, 1 to parity, 1 to disk 1.

When I click the start button I get "MOUNTING" on disk 1 but it does not seem to be doing anything. It has been over an hour. I remember doing this on my first unraid build and the mounting went fairly quickly.

I have attached an image of what is going on.

Please let me know what I need to do to get these drives mounted and formatted!

you have not stated what you have tried, so lets start with the basic:

Have you tried to refresh the page, either by hitting the Refresh button or just F5 for the browser to reread the webpage.

Yes, I have tried to refresh the page every way that I know possible.

Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Since no data is on your drives, perhaps just hit the power switch on your server, re-check your cabling to make sure it is secure, and start the array once more.

Anything that would have happened should have happened by now.

The initial clearing and formatting of 500 gig drives takes several hours on an SATA based array, more on an IDE based array, but it should give you an updated status when you press the refresh button on your browser.

From your server console (that is, the keyboard/monitor attached to the server), log in as 'root' and then type this command:

cp  /var/log/syslog  /boot/syslog.txt

Then power off the system, unplug the Flash, plug Flash into PC and you should see 'syslog.txt' file on it.  Please post or send to me at [email protected]

Sorry for not replying earlier. After letting it go for 24 hours I turned the computer off, unplugged everything, replugged everything and started it up. It then worked just fine.
