Accessing root?

Featured Replies

So far everything has been working fine. Transfer speeds are pegged from my desktop to unraid at 100mbps when it was hooked to the 10/100 so I moved the unraid server chassis into the rack so I could get it connected to the gig network and its now headless. How does 1 get into the root user or admin window so i can type in them fancy commands like ethtool eth0 so I can make sure the nic is connected correctly and also to experiement with the unmenu stuff?

telnet into the box.

Google putty if you don't have a telnet client already

Ok its connected at 1000mb/s. I think the problem right now is because I have a sata for the parity and iam using 2 spare ide drives for testing... before committing on purchasing the sata tb drives. I did find out though the free SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Cards I got from newegg with my server chassis purchases do work though..well atleast with the 1 sata drive I had hooked up.
