NVME Cache SSD can not Formated

Featured Replies

Hello you unraid disciples,

I am facing a problem.

After testing on my unRaid test, I wanted to dissolve my proxmox server and provide it with unraid.

So far everything worked the 1 Tb plate from the old system.

In the new system is a 1TB NVME SSD that I wanted to use as a cache.

I precleared the SSD with the Pre Cleared Plugin.

Now I wanted to format it but it fails with an error.

I packed them into the cache after the preclear and then wanted to format them because the Unraidable Unmountable: No file system shown on the right.

But when I click on Format below it stares and then stops with an error in the LOG Apr 11 07:29:59 Tower root: ERROR: '/ dev / sdc1' is too small to make a usable filesystem
Apr 11 07:29:59 Tower root: ERROR: minimum size for each btrfs device is 47185920.

But too small for a 1TB. I also attach the rest to you.

And hope for your help.

Regards Maggi

This error is what's causing the problem:

Apr 11 07:23:26 Tower emhttpd: error: mkmbr, 1976: Device or resource busy (16): ioctl BLKRRPART: /dev/sdc

No idea why this error though, please try wiping the device first:

blkdiscard /dev/sdX

Replace X with correct letter, currently it's sdc.

P.S. not that it matters for this but the 860 EVO is a SATA device, not NVMe.

Ah, thank you very much, it worked out after a few tries. But now it's in the cache.

Oh right is no NVME thanks for the info.
