December 29, 201015 yr Do you guys delete the data before RMA a drive? If yes, how do you delete the data?? I need to RMA my parity drive, and I am not sure if I should delete my data beforehand. Thx
December 29, 201015 yr Parity drive has no data. It only has parity bits. If you have more than one data drive the bits are essentially random.
December 29, 201015 yr I use 'sdelete' to wipe the data on WinOS [ http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897443 ]. There's 'shred' and 'secure-delete' and 'sfill' for Linux as well as using 'dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sd#'
