A Couple 4.2 Issues

Featured Replies

I upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2 beta 1 and restarted the server. When it came back up, I went to the web utility to see it (http://tower) it looked like it was working fine on the main tab, so I clicked users, then I clicked shares. Shares gave me a page not found error. So i clicked back and tried the other tabs including Main and Users, none of which will come up now.

So I went to //tower in Windows Explorer. I see my initial shares (disks1-5) but now I see a TON of extra stuff also. My disk5 was filled with divx versions of all my movies and they all show up as folders in windows explorer under \\tower now. I see things like "The Green Mile.avi", and it looks like a folder. When clicked on I get a "Windows cannot access \\tower\The Green Mile.avi" error.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I should also say, if I go to disk5 and then run "The Green Mile.avi" it still runs as it always has.

Just upgraded as well, but see no such symptoms.

Did you reboot your Windows PC?

just saw the "file looking like a folder" symptom.

If the file is in the root of the drive it will be exported as a directory.

No I did not reboot, will try that when I get home.

I guess I will need to make a movies folder on disk5 until this bug gets fixed.

I have rebooted my computer and I still cannot get to it by going to http://tower or http://192.168.1.139 (tower's ip)

I think two of you may have the same problem ...

If it indeed is the same, the answer seems to be to turn off user shares, clean up the directories, then turn it back on.  Since you can't get to it from your PC, you'll need to turn them off via linux.  No, I don't know how to do that, but someone will.

Anyone know how to turn user shares off without the web admin?

EDIT: turns out I dont need to turn the shares off. I used telnet to reboot the server and all is well. Weird, but as long as it works  :)

Stopping and starting the array, did the trick for me. No big deal.
