b0m541
I just wanted to upgrade the firmware of my LSI 9300-8i, using https://docs.broadcom.com/docs/Installer_P16_for_MSDOS_and_Windows.zip_p I copied the following files from the above ZIP to a FreeDOS bootable USB stick and booted from that: Installer(SAS3FLSH) DOS : \sas3flash_dos_rel\sas3flash.exe 17.00.00.00 02-Apr-18 Firmware : \firmware\SAS9300_8i_IT\SAS9300_8i_IT.bin 16.00.10.00 01-Aug-19 BIOS : \sasbios_rel\mptsas3.rom 8.37.00.00 05-Apr-18 Running "sas3flsh" gives "Failed to initialize PAL." and the tool exits. I found this: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2246526-flashing-ir-mode-to-lsi-9300-8i It did not work, the stick was not recognized as UEFI bootable even after putting the flash-tool in the root folder and also in /efi/boot/bootx64.efi Bummer. JorgeB
Failed to initialize PAL happens on more recent boards with UEFI support when booting DOS, you'd need to boot UEFI and uses sas2flash.efi, what I usually do is use an older board (without UEFI) to do the flashing or any available Windows desktop.
