Just purchased an intel X540 10gb controller but the system does not boot.

I have an Intel X540 10gb controller to be exact 561FLR-T, when I install it in a lane the system does not boot.

So I decided to try the tape method to tape pins b5 and b6 which is sometimes the solution for this kind of issue. The system did boot but now I do not see the device in lspci. 

 

Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue?

    How about switch between legacy (CSM) and UEFI boot mode ( un-tape X540 ) or plug to difference pcie bus (cpu or chipset).

     

    My Emulex NIC can't boot in one of mainboard but no problem on others, but I haven't further troubleshoot it because I have another NIC.

    You may try update NIC or mainboard firmware.
