DivideBy0 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 (edited) I have the Supermicro A2SDi-4C-HLN4F motherboard. Based on how I am reading this it only supports up to 8 SATA devices shared between the PCIE lane and the onboard SATA ports. Am I reading this right? 1 PCI-E 3.0 up to x4 (in x4 slot) *Number of PCI-E lane is configurable via BIOS setup: 0, 2, or 4. Total combined PCI-E lanes and SATA ports is up to 8. Question: If I add the x4 lane PCIE SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 Raid card or any other x4 lane PCIE HBA/RAID Card , 1 will it work and 2. will I get 8 extra hard drives on top of the 8 supported by the motherboard? Many many thanks https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/A2SDi-4C-HLN4F Edited June 14, 2020 by johnwhicker Quote

Yes, but you should avoid the SASLP as it has various known issues with Unraid. Quote

JorgeB Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 I would really avoid the SASLP, do you really need 8 extra ports? If 4 or 5 are enough there are other options, you could also use a 4 port LSI with an expander. Quote
