jetbootz Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 (edited) HI all, My name is Darren, I'm a new Unraid server builder , I am trying to decide on a motherboard and have been offered this at a OK price - Supermicro X10DRH-C I am not overly savvy with IT skills, but wondered if there was anything I should know before ordering, i.e - is unraid going to work on basically any E5 2000 V3 series CPU motherboard ? The one I am looking at has the following specs - 16 DIMMs12" x 13" Key Features Dual socket R3 (LGA 2011) supports Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 v4†/ v3 family; UPI up to 9.6GT/s Intel® C612 chipset Up to 2TB† ECC 3DS LRDIMM , up to DDR4- 2400†MHz; 16 DIMM slots 1 PCI-E 3.0 x16, 6 PCI-E 3.0 x8 slots Intel® i350 Dual port GbE LAN 10 SATA3 (6Gbps) ports w/ Intel® C612 controller; RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 8 SAS3 (12Gbps) ports w/ Broadcom® 3108 controller (2GB cache); RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 Integrated IPMI 2.0 and KVM with Dedicated LAN 5 USB 3.0 and 4 USB 2.0 ports Edited July 7, 2020 by jetbootz picture Quote
uldise Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 there will be no problems with CPUs - unraid works with most hardware that can run Linux.. but i'm not sure about LSI controller - LSI 3108 is RAID controller - these are not recommended for unraid. you can choose https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/X10DRH-CLN4 it have LSI 3008 - a plain HBA, works with unraid out of the box. jetbootz Posted July 7, 2020 Author Posted July 7, 2020 thanks very much for the reply. Yes I was wondering about the SAS card being LSI 3108. If I decided to get this board anyway as I have opportunity at a decent price, could I just use a PCI to SATA raid card and flash it ? Or could this 3108 be flashed ? cheers again ! Quote
jetbootz Posted July 7, 2020 Author Posted July 7, 2020 I See in your description you are using this card , would this be a simple way around the onboard card being unsuitable ? Quote

jetbootz Posted July 8, 2020 Author Posted July 8, 2020 many thanks for replies. had no idea china sends fake cards. looks like ill be getting them locally here in AUS . Quote
Zvaniel4o Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I have this same board. You will have to setup the LSI 3108 to JBOD is either IPMI or the firmware settings upon boot. Worked out the box for me. No flashing needed. 1 Quote
