dwoods99
I have 8-port Sata card which has always been working fine in the RAID-5 setup. Now I am trying to get the same system working with unRAID 5.0b2 Previously bootup with uBuntu would access the sata card first, assigning those 8 first /dev/sd[a-h] and then the single PATA/IDE drive with the O/S is assigned /dev/sdi, and then the motherboard's 4-port sata would get /dev/sd[j-m] which I did have 12 x 1TB Seagate drives. Now booting up with unRAID seems to be having trouble with the 8-port sata after the 3rd port, and so the flash key is being assigned to /dev/sdd The only relevant parts in /var/log/syslog after a reboot that I could find was Jan 10 18:48:21 Tower kernel: DMI 2.4 present. prostuff1
Any suggestions welcome on what to try next. Yeah, please post the whole syslog along with the exact kind of SATA controller you are trying to use. Also, make sure that the SATA controller card is in JBOD mode and NOT in some RAID mode. dwoods99
Not sure I understand why this was moved to "Other" group since I am asking about Hard drives and my sata controller, but I'll assume it has to do with forum re-structuring. I can't find the controller manual right now, and I can't pull it out of the machine because of a preclear. The sata card was never in a raid mode before, I was using Linux software raid with LVM. All ports worked fine before unRAID. attached is a syslog file after a reboot from original message, I pulled out caddies for slots 4-7 so they are supposed to be down now. Strange now that 3 is down and 1,2,8 is ok. syslog.txt Link to comment
BRiT
Not sure I understand why this was moved to "Other" group since I am asking about Hard drives and my sata controller, but I'll assume it has to do with forum re-structuring. It was moved into the appropriate location for unraid 5.0 series (Issues and bugs). If you were trying to use unRAID 4.6 then it would have likely remained in the hard drives and controllers section. dwoods99
The Sata controller is an 8-port SuperMicro Sat2-MV8. Link to comment
