Should memtest86+ work in 4.2 beta 3?

Featured Replies

If i select memtest86+ in 4.2 beta 3 it gives me corrupt or invalid image. I've i tried copying files again from 4.2 beta 3 zip but didn't work. I think i tried this with beta 4 also. But reverted back to beta 3 because web security doesn't work in beta 4.

Anyway i had 4.1 before then upgraded to 4.2 beta 2 first then to beta 3. First time i tried to try memtest was with beta 3.

And yes i copied all these files to the flash

    bzimage

    bzroot

    syslinux.cfg

    menu.c32

    memtest

But i copied them via flash share.

The general rule of posting bug reports on Beta versions is to test on the latest beta. 4.2-beta4 is out so thats the one to report against.

This saves reporting bugs that may be already fixed :)

Quick question... are you trying to invoke the memtest from a "telnet" prompt, or are you selecting it from the boot menu as you are bootinng up the unRaid server?

I installed the memtest program and menu, but never tried them out as of yet since I always just booted unRaid.  Depending on your answer, I might have to reboot to check things out.

(PS... don't think it will ever work from telnet. I think it is only possible to use it from the boot menu)

Not Working

At boot up, select memtest86+, results in an error message. Only active option is Unraid....

I copied all the files in the zip, including the memtest86+ to the flash. Are we supposed to do anyting else?

Thanks

B.

Mine reports a corrupt image also, run from the new startup menu.  The memtest files are identical in all 4 beta versions of 4.2.  The only changes between the 4 betas are bzimage, bzroot, and readme.txt.

I tried to start it from boot menu. And i don't think you can even do good memtest under operating system because operating system has allready allocated some memory.

Sorry, the memtest image in the download got corrupted somehow.

Download from here, unzip, and copy to the root of your Flash.
