October 13, 20205 yr My flash drive was acting strange so I attempted a backup. Apparently it didn't work correctly. There is no /config directory, license.txt is 0KB, and the whole zip was only 16MB. After figuring out the backup wasn't salvageable, I just installed the latest unraid on a new flash drive and replaced the USB key. I'm now confronted with the issue of remembering which disk was parity, and which disks were part of the data set. I see my cache drive which is the only ssd, but every one of my disks is a 10TB WD shucked disk so they're almost identical. I installed the unassigned devices plugin. Would I be correct in assuming the one disk that isn't xfs is the parity drive? Does the order of the other data drives matter? Thanks in advance.
October 14, 20205 yr Community Expert That would be correct as the parity drive does not contain a file system. if you only had the ‘parity’ drive then order does not matter (it does for the parity2 drive).

October 14, 20205 yr Author Thanks guys. This server is offsite so I'm going to go in tomorrow and try to get it up and running. What can I expect in terms of rebuilding the flash drive? I'll surely need to install my ssh key and turn off password authentication, but for instance, do I need to download and install any plugins previously used? Docker containers? Guessing app data should still exist on the cache / data drive for this, but do I need to install the containers again and mount the right volumes? I did have SMB shares and users, I would presume all that would need to be set up again? As an alternative, I was going to mess around with the failed flash drive tonight and see if I can pull any data off it. I'm not seeing much in disassembly, although it does seem to be a recommended drive. It's a Sandisk Ultrafit sdcz430-032g Does anyone have experience with these? I'm not really happy with the drive as it gets blazing hot when plugged in. With that said, any alternatives you guys recommend? The case is in a room no one ever goes in, so I don't mind if the flash drive protrudes from the case as long as it has good cooling ability and will last a while.
October 15, 20205 yr Community Expert Since you had no backup of config, all your config is gone. That includes plugins, docker templates, user share settings, disk assignments, license key... There are defaults for many settings so that is what you will get. Since you still have your data, your user shares will exist, since user shares are simply the aggregated top level folders on cache and array. But since you have no settings for those user shares, they will all have default settings. Since you still have appdata, the working storage for your containers still exists, and probably if you enable dockers, you will have containers. Unfortunately, without the templates, you can't work with those containers from the webUI. So basically you will have to do them over, starting with deleting and recreating docker.img. If you set them up correctly they should be able to use their existing appdata.
October 15, 20205 yr Author I got it all set up and running yesterday. I had to reinstall plugins, add users, reconfigure shares. The docker containers I had, started up no problem. However, I was unable to edit the containers as you've pointed out. Overall, wasn't too painful and lesson learned about multiple backups for usb storage. Now, I've ordered an SLC USB drive. I'd like to replace the temporary flash drive I have currently installed, but I'm reading about being limited to changing USB drives only once per year? Is that still the case? Is there a way around that?
October 16, 20205 yr Community Expert The automatic process only allows once per year. For more than that you have to contact support.
