New MoBo - no Network

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I just updated to a new mainboard/cpu and it seems I can't get a network connection. Running unraid 6.8.3.

I tried resetting the network.cfg and also tried different dhcp/static settings. Nothing works - booting windows immediately connects to the router.

current diagnostics attached - what can I do?

Most likely, your new MB has a NIC that the current stable version does not have a driver for.   The beta version 6.9.0-beta 30 most likely does have the required driver.

Shut the server down.  Make a complete backup of the boot/flash drive.

Then use the LimeTech UBS Creator tool to format your flash drive with the beta version.  Now copy over the   config    folder/directory from the backup.  Now boot the server.

Seems like that does the job, but I don't feel very 'save' running a beta. Any way to include the driver into a stable build?

The NAS portion of this beta is quite stable.  Most of the problems are in the VM area.

But, of course, the decision is up to you.  I seem to recall that someone did built a package which allows the driver (not sure if it was the Linux one or the manufacturer's one) to be installed in the current stable version.  I would suggest that you google for it and use   unraid.net    as one of your search terms.
