Virtualization question

Featured Replies

So i kinda screwed up and started too small and put an i3 10100 in my unraid server.

I have 32 gigs of ram in it and I do want to start using it as my hypervisor so I don't have to chew up resources on my desktop PC (8 core Ryzen 7)  So the question is should I get an 8 core for the unraid server or would I be ok with a 6 core if I only really want to run a couple  VMs on the regular?

It probably depends on what you are going to be doing with the VMs.. how much power you need, etc... running them one at a time for specific purposes or all together...

One of them is my work desktop system basically all I do with it is get into some web browser pages and open some SSH sessions into my routers.  The other I am going to be using to do screen capture for my plex library.  They won't be very heavily used
