plumbumber
Hi, I currently have a pool with 4 x 3TB Data drives (no parity). My pool is filling pretty quickly so i want to upgrade it. One thing I didn't really find a clear answer to, and I want to be certain before I purchase a couple of drives, is the ability to add different sizes to the current pool. If I where to add lets say 2x 6tb drives to the current pool, and use 1 for parity, this would just work as long as the parity is as big as the biggest drive right? Or will it only use 3TB like in RAID configs? Quote Link to comment
sjaak
It will be 6TB, You can mix different HDD sizes with unRAID, as long you parity disk is atleast the same size of the largest drive in the data pool.. 1 Quote Link to comment

itimpi
I must admit it is not absolutely clear to me whether you really mean a cache pool or the main Unraid array. For a cache pool you can use this site to work out the available space for various combinations of disk in the pool together with particular btrfs profiles For the main array the available space is simply the sum of the data drives.
