Fizz
Hello, I'm new to Unraid and currently on the trial period period. I'd like to use it mainly for storage and plex, and some other docker containers. I might be in a slightly unusual situation compared to other Unraid users because I only want to use one parity and one data disk (14TB each) and an SSD cache. Am I better off with something that will do RAID1? I generally like Unraid but not sure if it makes sense to use it with only one data disk. If I get another data disk down the road, I can see Unraid as being the better solution, but I suspect that won't be for a while. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
With just parity and one data drive Unraid works in raid1. Quote Link to comment
Fizz
Thanks, isn't the parity disk still used for parity with one data drive? That's different than having separate copies of the same file, which is how I thought raid1 works. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Like mentioned single data drive is a special case where Unraid detects that and works same as raid1. https://forums.unraid.net/topic/74962-2-drive-system-mirror-or-parity/?tab=comments#comment-690816 1 Quote Link to comment
