Old system - Cannot update to lastest version

Recommended Posts

HI everybody !

I realised that after many years my Unraid Server is still on version 5.0-rc12a (I know...)

This server is working since almost 10 years now without any problems.

This is an old computer. The board is an "Asus P5B-Vm do" with an Intel Celeron e1200 and 1go ram

So tonight I tried to Update it to latest version (6.8.3... I also tried 6.8.2)

I always get the error: Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

I tried on 2 separates USB Keys, the original and a brand new one and same result.

I tried at first the upgrade method then I tried a very clean install with both keys, only to know if it will boot but no, same error every time.

If I rollback my original key to the 5.0-rc12a backup it is working fine every time !

memtest86 discovered no errors.

I've checked if my system support 64 bits, it seems that yes.

I have read about 50 post in this forum and elsewhere, tried a lot of things but nothing work...

any Ideas ?

thank you

Ryno
