  • My computer is making buzzing noises when I scroll.

As I named the post. . . My computer just started making buzzing noises when I use the scroll.

I use unRAID 7 beta 2, and my VM that I mainly use, just rebooted and afterwards the bluetooth device was disconnected which was an easy fix, since I have an extra mouse connected to the system in case something happens. When I reconnected the USB-BT device, my mouse went on a hyperdrive, and was 2-3 times faster then it’s set to be.

After the reboot I started to notice new sounds from the computer that I have never heard before. "/ Buzzing as soon as I scroll on a webpage. Haven’t started up a game yet in order to check if something is wrong. The only thing new that I changed recently was the setting of my RX 6700 XT, to use Super Resolution in the AMD Experience Suite.

I can’t localize where the sounds come from though. It was while trying to do that, that my USB-BT device just disconnected from unRAID. "/ So I don’t know if it’s the m.2, MB, GPU, CPU or PSU that’s making sounds. "/

Issues occur when I scroll, and also seems to make sounds when it's under load. ex. loading a webpage. I set it to urgent, because I don't know if it's the VM breaking down or if it's uR-7b2 that is causing this.

it sounds like it could be electrical or hardware related you might want to turn off the computer and check to make sure all your plugs and electrical connections are seated tight and that nothing has come lose

you could also try unplugging the mouse and try using a different one and see if it still makes the noise or not

My M.2 drives make noise that sounds like a hard drive - much quieter, but noise nonetheless. My wife can't hear it at all, but I've got that superman hearing that keeps me up at night if there's a fruit fly farting downstairs.

sounds like a bit of good old fashioned coil whine. I wouldn't worry about it.

edit: If its super annoying you could try and find the coil that's whining and put a drop of glue on it to see if that stops it. Most likely one on your video card.

AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 3 transforms gaming experiences with massive and responsive frame rates in supported games using super resolution temporal upscaling and advanced frame generation.

Sounds like something that could promote coil whine, if your GPU is susceptible to it, under load.

My GPU also gets coil whine especially when doing heavy operations (transcoding 4K etc.) or being stressed.
