Hello!

 

I am using Unraid for my mediaserver but also for my 2 people - 1 PC setup. With the second one i noticed that my virtual machines are unusable lagging when there are too many hdd or ethernet-operations. Do you have an idea how to fix this? A friend with the same setup told me he does not have such problems and i cannot find the issue...

Does your cache SSD have enough free space, and is it being trimmed regularly? More details would be helpful, you really need to post the diagnostics zip file.

I see the same on my Windows 7 VM. It's rock solid but as soon as I start copying via the network I see massive latency spikes. I never got to the bottom of it but I saw the same issue on a virtual nic as well as a real PCI nic passed through to the VM.

Can you make that change to an existing VM though without it mucking up the Windows side? I realise it might affect activiation but will the VM still boot?

Take a copy of your VM XML and also the vdisk first?

I had this exact issue and changing to q35-2.10 (machine type) potentially resolved it for me. I say potentially because I did install a completely new VM instead of modifying the existing one.
