  1. BTW, I found the problem. Since my Windows was a fresh install, the user account control was still aktivated. After I deactivated it and restarted my PC, I could finally see everything. However, I didn´t found this in the "Windows issues with unRAID" thread, I just stumbeld over this while installing some programs. So unless others can see their server while the user account control is aktiv, this should be mentioned somewhere for new users. Best Regards, Aussie
  2. Push Doesn´t anyone have any suggestions for me? I can see it on my Laptop, but I can´t on my PC.
  3. Stuff I tried so far: All the network stuff ist set on Workgroup is set SMB is aktivated (but there is only one SMB option) I really need help with this, everything else is working fine, but the server doesn´t show
  4. Yea, I thougt so as well, but 359 GB just seems like a lot.
  5. I´m finally done with all the hardware parts. Unraid is up and running and I can acess it on my browser, but there ist nothing under Network. I have created a "test" share, but there is nothing. Also, everything should be empty, but all drives have something on them, wonder why/what (I used pre-clear)?

    UPS for UNRAID

Thanks for all the advice, my system only need about 80w, so I got the cheapest APC Back-UPS Pro unit. It was on sale anyway.

    Nobody got an idea?

    UPS for UNRAID

I´m looking for an UPS but I´m not sure which one I should get. We have power outages like maybe 3 times a year that usually last 5 to 15 minutes. In the last 10 years or so, there was one that lasted for about an hour. The server doesn´t need to run the entire time, it just needs to power done savely. If it could run through the power out, that would be even better, but not really necessary. However, I want something that´s good/ big enough for some additional drives, etc. and not just fine for the moment. I ´ve been looking at 6 APC units, but I don´t know which is the right fit for me and what is total overkill. 88,90 € - APC Back-UPS 700 (BX700U-GR) 112,90 € - APC Back-UPS 950 (BX950U-GR) 159,90 € - APC Back-UPS 1400 (BX1400U-GR) 237,90 € - APC Back-UPS Pro 900 (BR900G-GR) 364,00 € - APC Back-UPS Pro 1200 (BR1200G-GR) 369,00 € - APC Back-UPS Pro 1500 (BR1500G-GR) My UnRaid Server (not build yet): Mainbord: MSI Z170A Gaming M3 CPU: i7-6700K CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3000 (not ECC, runs at 2133 MHz) PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 650w Storage: 3 x Seagate 16 TB Parity: 2 x Seagate 16 TB Case: Fractal Define 7 XL Fans: 4 x 120 mm - Noctua NF-F12, front intake 3 x 140 mm - Fractal Dynamic X2 GP-14, top exhaust 1 x 140 mm - be quiet! Silent Wings 3, rear exhaust
  9. Can I just runn the archive while my PC is running (about 5 hours a day) or would it be better to have it running 24/7?
  10. I can´t find the "johnnie.black HBA" topic you mentioned. For now, I will just use the 6 mobo ports, as that should be enough for a couple years. Since the archive only needs to run while my PC is running (about 5 hours a day), I was thiniking about shutting it down for the remaining time. Is that something I can do with unraid or would it be better to have it running 24/7?
  11. Ok, so I will just use everything as is and set the RAM to 2133MHz. Or is there anything I should change? And what HBA should I use for the drives? Can I mix the drives conections, e.g. some attached to the mobo and some to an HBA?
  12. I don´t think I will find the the time setup Plex in the foreseeable future, maybe next year. It will be used by two TV´s max, probably not in 4k though. Since I don´t need it, I will sell it after I buy one of the new RTX 3000 series. My focus is not really on reusing existing parts, I just want a reliable way to store my data. From most of what I read so far about FreeNas, the conclusion I got was ALWAYS use ECC RAM for storage. Some even said it is the most important thing to above everything else. Also, it is quite cheap, considering that I am about to spend 2.000 € on Harddrives. Having a secure system that will last me for years is defently more important to me than saving a few bucks. How much RAM should I have in total, this 1 GB RAM / 1 TB Storage seems a bit much. Do I even need a Cache drive for now, or should I just add it later when I install Plex? And how big should the Cache drive be?
  13. Hello unRaid community, I am about to create my first unraid server out of my old PC. - Case: Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 Rev. B - Mainbord: MSI Z170A Gaming M3 - CPU: i7-6700K - CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 - RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3000 (not ECC) - GPU: MSI GTX 1080 - PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 650w - 4 x 16 TB IronWolf Pro (2 for Parity) Aside from raw storage, I will only use Plex. Do I need the GPU for anything else but Plex/ can I just add it later? (I will use the GTX 1080 in my new PC until the RTX 3080 Ti becomes is available) Would you suggest I get ECC Ram and if so, how much? Should I get and M.2 SSD for Cache or is that not really necessary just for storage. Which HBA should I get?
  14. Hello unRaid community, First of all, I am German, so my english might not be perfect, sorry for that. I came here, because I need to get my storage needs fixed, and I have never done anything like a RAID/DAS/NAS before. Right now, my data is spread across 5 internal WD Blue/Green 4 TB drives and 2 external WD My Book 8 TB. Some of the more important data is backed up to 4 external WD Green 2 TB drives. I know pretty much nothing about linux and programming, so I prefer user friendly solutions. My files are about 75 % Videos, 15 % Pictures and 10 % other small stuff. My current PC (but I will upgrade later this year and would like to use some/all of the exsisting parts for the archive): - Case: Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 Rev. B - Mainbord: MSI Z170A Gaming M3 - CPU: i7-6700K - CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 - RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8) DDR4-3000 - GPU: MSI GTX 1080 - PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 650w What I need: - About 25 TB of usable Storage (e.g. 4x16 TB IronWolf Pro) - I want all of my files in one, save place - Redundent storage (e.g. Raid 6) for 1 local User - The archive only needs to run while my PC is running (about 5 hours a day) - Easy way to add additional drives in the future to increase my storage (wich is why I lean towards unRaid) - Some way add additional drives in the future (MSI Board has only 4 Sata Ports if I use 1 M.2) - System will be placed in the living room, next to my PC, so it should not be to loud - I want to use Plex on my TV (same Room) What I don´t need: - Network access fro multiple Users - Cloud Storage Can I do what I want/ need with unRaid? If you don´t think unRaid is the right fit for me, I am open to suggestions. And what else do I need to get this done?
