  1. Good question. I used the unRaid Creator tool, but I did nothing else. After I used the tool I tested the flash with the server and it started to boot. I cut it short because I did not want to go through another configuration process which I have on the older version
  2. I have a fresh install to my re-formated flash and would like to go back to an earlier version. I deleted the contents of the flash and copied to it a previous backup. This did not work and resulted in a boot error. Rather than deleting the entire contents of the fresh install are there individual files/folders that I could move to the flash that would avoid this problem? Also, I'm curious as to what files/folders on the flash I would not want to delete that would prevent me moving to an older version? There was something I did causing a boot error.
  3. Trurl, Thanks for the reply but the only way I know how to make the flash a bootable device is by using the unRaid USB Creator program and that limits me to thirty days. How do I get around this limitation? Thanks for your patience.
  4. That is correct. Before I updated to the current stable version I backed up my flash to the cache drive. After the update I noticed I could no longer see the cache drive. As I mentioned earlier I found an older backup in another location and copied it by mistake to the System Volume directory. Since the last post I have re-formated the flash drive and copied, once again, an older version to the flash. Now, when I start the server I get a "No valid boot device found." My three boot options from the bios are 1) AHCI PO WDC WD20... 2) USB Sandisk 3) UEFI USB Sandisk. I have actually tried all three with the UEFI USB Sandisk option being the one I think I should use. I guess what I need to do now is to make the flash a bootable device. I thought just copying the flash files to the re-formated disk would do the trick. What do I need to do now?
  5. After updating from 6.3.2 to the latest version I lost my cache drive and dockers. The cache drive contains all my backup files. I wanted to revert back to the previous version but not having access to the cache drive, that would not be possible. I then remembered I had some additional backups on my computer and thought this might be my ticket to getting access to my cache drive files. I deleted all items from the boot USB device (pro License) to which I then copied an older version of unRaid. Here is where I made a mistake. The files were copied accidentally to the System Volume Directory, and now, I am unable to delete them using Windows Explorer. To get around this dilemma I thought I would reformat and re-register the boot device, but It has been several years since I have done this and I don't remember how this was done. I downloaded the USB Creator program which had instructions for a 30 day free trial. I have two questions: 1) why am I unable to delete the system files from the System Volume directory? 2) How do I fix my USB boot device to bypass the 30 day free trial?
  6. Thanks for the quick reply. Appreciate your efforts. I was trying to access the date/time settings by using the directional keys. I solved the problem by connecting a mouse to the server. I was then able to focus the cursor on the date/time settings.
  7. I have an Asrock z97 motherboard and I can't find anywhere in the bios to reset the time and date. I removed the cmos battery to check it and lost the above settings. Can anyone help wit this?
  8. Thanks, Trurl. You have been so helpful.
  9. Thanks Trurl. I have removed the disk and started parity rebuild. I have One more question. After the parity rebuild finishes I'm going to add the second parity drive. Do I not check the parity valid box before starting?
  10. I am removing a drive and replacing it with an additional parity drive. Since I am making the array smaller I think I need to use the new config tool, right? I have removed all data from the drive I am removing except for two files I cannot delete using Windows file explorer. I get a message stating I need permission from Tower/Root. Can I just remove this drive without deleting the two files and run a new parity rebuild? I don't need these files anymore. I have looked at solutions for removing locked files, but my knowledge of Linux is limited. A stumbling block is the issue of how to enter the correct path to the server (Tower) from a Windows command prompt. I made several attempts but could never get the path syntax right.
  11. Thanks, Raidserver, for the reply. I am away for the holiday and will not be back until Tuesday. I will look at it again then. Thanks
  12. I need some help with getting minidlna to work with my client. There are no files listed by my dlna app, and I'm thinking I don't have my path properly described. I am not at all knowledgeable about the pathing syntax Linux uses. My user share (Movies) is a collection of The contents of my disk shares. The path I entered for Host Path on the setup page is: /mnt/user/Movies/. I also edited the config file to match this entry. This path description is obviously just a guess Note: I don't know if this information is needed, but the name of my unraid box is "Tower." I have tried various other path descriptions, but all have been unsuccessful. I would appreciate any help with this.
  13. Bonienl, thanks. I guess this means I do not need the last two plugins.
  14. Bonienl, I reinstalled 6.12 and got these errors. After seeing them I reinstalled the S3. sleep, power down plugin, and the cache.dirs, but I'm not sure as to what the last two refer. Should these items have been installed? What do I need to do? /boot/config/plugins-error/dynamix.cache.dirs-2.1.0-noarch-bergware.plg ERROR NOTE: Reinstalled /boot/config/plugins-error/dynamix.s3.sleep-2.1.1-noarch-bergware.plg ERROR NOTE: Reinstalled /boot/config/plugins-error/dynamix.system.temp-2.1.0-noarch-bergware.plg NOTE;: Don't need this /boot/config/plugins-error/dynamix.dns.server-2.1.0-noarch-bergware.plg ERROR /boot/config/plugins-error/dynamix.plugin.control-2.1.1-noarch-bergware.plg ERROR Thanks
  15. Bonienl, Thanks for taking the time to help me with this issue. I was unaware I needed the power down plugin. Sorry, about that. Although, thinking about it now, I think I did have it when I was using ver 5 Anyway, your plugin is now working on my server and I am happy about that. As for the setting of the switches, I set them for the unconditional shutdown hoping to eliminate any influence of some unknown server activity as I was trying to get the plugin to work. I will be setting them properly to suit my needs. Thanks again.
  16. Bonienl, I think this what you want. 17. Thanks, Bonienl, for the reply. Here are my settings Exececution Function: Shutdown Excluded days: None Excluded hours: None Wait for array inactivity: No Extra delay after array inactivity: no entry (Using default 30 min) Wait for network inactivity: No Ethernet interface: eth0 Network idle threshold: Silent Traffic (0 kbs) Wait for device inactivity (IP address): no entry Wait for user login inactivity: No Set WOL options before sleep: g Additional comments 1.On my initial installation of the s3 sleep plugin I lost my formatting for the web gui. However, I was able to restore that by clicking on something, of which I don't remember what that was. I did an uninstall and re-installed the plugin, but that made no difference. 2. I had been using s3 sleep successfully as a part of umMenu with ver 5 of unRaid. I decided to move on to ver 6.12 beta and did a fresh install. I followed this up by installing PhAzE'S Media Browser server Plugin. After working with this combination for a few days, I installed the s3 sleep plugin. It just has never worked as far as I know.
  18. I'm having a problem with the s3 sleep plugin. It appears to have installed correctly, but the "Execute function" does not work. I have tried the s3 sleep and Power down settings to no avail. Here are some of my settings: Wait for array inactivity = no Extra delay after array inactivity= 60 Wait for network inactivity = no I can power down or enter sleep mode if I do it from the Array Operation page, but it will not do these automatically. Can someone help me work through this problem? thanks
  19. Is there a way to automate the "Go to S3 Sleep" button found in the unMenu plugin? What I would like to have happen is an automatic shutdown after a period of inactivity. I currently use a wireless remote to turn the server on and off, but would find it convenient to have an auto shutdown. I have read this thread and found it useful. However, I am also running the AirVideo plugin and do not know how its startup and shutdown would be effected. Currently, using my remote for start up and shutdown has not presented any problems Thanks
