  1. Hi all been using UNRAID for a good while now and I'm getting the stage where I'd really rather avoid the wife filing for divorce by me losing all our family photos and movies etc. stored on the UNRAID array , and a sure fire way to do that is to have a decent backup. Now none of this information is mission critical life or death data (although I wouldn't be surprised if I were to end up dead at the hands of her if i did lose it all) I jest. So here is my "dilemma": I currently run a separate windows 10 box using Windows Storage Spaces (in my rack) which I use as my game streaming machine/UNRAID backup server (to backup all my UNRAID shares) , but I've been struggling to find either a solution to: A) run a windows 10 application that can backup a bunch of UNRAD shares that are mapped to the backup Win 10 box as network drives , Ideally as one FULL backup then incremental backups after that preferably at a scheduled date/time as both the UNRAID box and the backup/streaming box are both 24/7 rack servers). B) Find some way that I can run something on my UNRAID server which at a scheduled time will do most of if not all of the above automatically to the Storage Spaces drive on the windows 10 box from the UNRAID box. Features I would Ideally like are 1. Able to perform a single initial FULL backup of all the drives (at the moment I have been copying and pasting which is a massive PITA) then following that incremental weekly scheduled backups (IF any files have changed been added etc.). 2. Speed of transfers as fast as they can be, now here I know I am limited to the transfer speeds of the various HDD's I have as all my LAN devices are connected via 10Gig and its only the internet that comes in on 1Gig ports etc. 3. Ideally I would like to be able to do this without having to move the streaming/UNRAID box to either Linux or another UNRAID server. I thankyou in advance and realize I may be missing info, I'm relatively new to UNRAID but I'm pretty tech savvy and have been thoroughly enjoying it , thanks again and I look forward to all your suggestions. P.S. I have enough space on my UNRAID backup (win10) box by far to backup my UNRAID server and also have 2 x drive parity on it so the backup server is good for 2 drive failures on that side.
  2. Anyone know of some COMPATIBLE pcie , USB (fastest A style a available) add in cards for an UNRAID server. I have a 16x pci-e 3.0 left to use. I've looked at the older posts , but more USB cards have come out since then, I remember reading that a certain ASMEDIA chipset worked for some users but I don't know which newer ones do/will. Also need compatibility for Linux(unraid), Windows 10/11 (vms) and Macosx (Vms). Thanks In advance
  3. Curious if anyone knows if this one works. It is an ASMEDIA chipset but it's 3142 not the aforementioned compatible : 1142 https://www.cdw.com/product/startech.com-2-port-usb-pcie-card-10gbps-port-usb-3.2-3.1-gen-2-type-a/6409680
  4. Well I'm not sure what changed (apart from me updating to the latest version of unraid) but my issue appears to be fixed!. Weird.
  5. Here is my syslinux config: default menu.c32 menu title Lime Technology, Inc. prompt 0 timeout 50 label Unraid OS kernel /bzimage append vfio-pci.ids=8086:10c9 vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 initrd=/bzroot label Unraid OS GUI Mode menu default kernel /bzimage append vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 initrd=/bzroot,/bzroot-gui label Unraid OS Safe Mode (no plugins, no GUI) kernel /bzimage append initrd=/bzroot unraidsafemode label Unraid OS GUI Safe Mode (no plugins) kernel /bzimage append initrd=/bzroot,/bzroot-gui unraidsafemode label Memtest86+ kernel /memtest i'm aware im probably doing something stupid.
  6. Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me, I'm having an issue when booting into my version of UNRAID but only when booting into the GUI mode. I get a kernel panic (see screenshot included please), I was running the latest version of Unraid, but have just rolled back to the previous version and still the same issue. The only default option I have changed is that I made unraid boot into the gui version by default, by adjusting the line in the "menu default" to it in the sys linux. I have to mention that this has all been working perfectly up until I restarted my unraid server today for a fortnightly restart. I am also not a linux guru so any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Martin
  7. Does this work on vm's that are using entire drives that are being passed through I have a VM that uses 2 physical ssds but I'd like to make a snapshot of the VM??
  8. Mark this as closed for some reason (an without changing any settings in the vm) my monitor started working the way i wanted it to. I just rebooted an bought a key file and it started working with the vm running.
  9. Hi , so I'm having a kinda minor issue with my video output in UNRAID. I'm using a supermicro board and I'm using the on board vga output to an old Dell monitor (which I use basically as a console/webgui monitor for UNRAID to manage the server of I happen to be physically at said server). I'm running a Windows 10 VM on it but my issue/question is , as soon as I start my VM the video output on said console monitor switches to the actual windows 10 VM display. Anyone know what causes this , and if it's possible to NOT have the VM show on my console monitor instead of the Host UNRAID OS be shown. I'm probably doing something wrong , but I definitely did not pass through the on board vga (I read somewhere it's a matrox gpu on the supermicro x9drl-if ), although previously I DID have a passed through AMD radeo 4550 card installed , which is no longer physically on the machine. If anyone could shed any light on this it would be much appreciated, I can provide more infor when I'm at my server , not at home at the mo. Thanks in advance. Martin
  10. Hi guys I had previously posted this in a different thread but was advised to post it in here, (sorry new to Unraid)... Hi wondering if anyone has any suggestions I am preclearing all the drives in my array , most of them get speeds of around 40/50MB/s to 130MB/s depending on what they are doing , I have 1 drive however which is going super slow drive model name is : ST2000DM001-1E6164_W1E7DZNH BELOW is my unraid pre clear log during its pre-read cycle which has now been running for 24 hours JUST ON THE PRE READ..... ############################################################################################################################ # # # unRAID Server Preclear of disk W1E7DZNH # # Cycle 1 of 1, partition start on sector 64. # # # # # # Step 1 of 5 - Pre-read in progress: (14% Done) # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ** Time elapsed: 24:48:39 | Current speed: 1 MB/s | Average speed: 3 MB/s # # # ############################################################################################################################ # Cycle elapsed time: 24:49:13 | Total elapsed time: 24:49:13 # ############################################################################################################################ ############################################################################################################################ # # # S.M.A.R.T. EDIT: noticed something weird: I noticed a weird quirk I started a pre clear again but this time ONLY on this drive and it started running at over 180MB/s as soon as I start another disk at the same time this one drops to 1MB-6MB/s no matter what phase its on! Thanks in advance.
  11. I will post that when I can figure out how to, (I downloaded the Zip) , also I noticed a weird quirk I started a pre clear again but this time ONLY on this drive and it started running at over 180MB/s as soon as I start another disk at the same time this one drops to 1MB-6MB/s no matter what phase its on!
