[6.12.6] DISK2 has read errors to DISK 2 Not installed - Disk failed?
Hi JorgeB, I've swapped the (mini SAS to SATA) cables between disk 2 and 3 as per your suggestion. Disk 2 remains offline even with the previous disk 3 cable, while disk 3 operates normally with the previous disk 2 cable. Based on this, would you agree that it's safe to conclude Disk 2 has failed and needs to be replaced? Thanks.

[6.12.6] DISK2 has read errors to DISK 2 Not installed - Disk failed?
Diagnostics attached (I downloaded diagnostics prior to reboot). Just now I saw Disk 2 has 208 read errors, and I tried SMART short self-test (attached). Self-test results states: "Smartctl open device: /dev/sdd failed: INQUIRY failed" The extended SMART test was greyed out. I then restarted the server and now disk 2 is not installed. Has disk 2 failed completely and I will need to replace it with new and rebuild? Thank you in advanced. unraid-smart-20240215-2204.zip unraid-diagnostics-20240215-2156.zip

Recycle Bin (vfs recycle) for SMB Shares
I was able to add root share under Unassigned Devices, and enable Share under the settings. Then through windows, I was able to access root share and Reyclin Bin works perfectly! Noted on the fact that Recylin Bin does not work on Krusader as it is directly at Linux level and not SMB. Thank you so much!

Recycle Bin (vfs recycle) for SMB Shares
Thank you for the quick responses. I followed spaceInvader One's tutorial on root share, and that's where the smb-extras.cfg is from. I do not know how to use Unassigned Devices to add root share, but this is probably outside of the scope of this discussion. I have now removed the config and therefore the root share U:\ is no longer working. When deleting files through Krusader, (/media/user/data/), the deleted files do not show up on delete files log within the Recycle Bin page. When deleting files from Windows "\\UNRAID\data", or "\\192.168.100.41\data" then it shows up on delete files log within the Recycle Bin page. The behavior of Recycle Bin has not changed after deleting the smb-extras. Cheers.

Recycle Bin (vfs recycle) for SMB Shares
Yes U:\ is mapped to rootshare When deleting files through rootshare from windows, which is mapped to U:\. The deleted files do not show up on deleted files log within the Recycle Bin page. When deleting files through Krusader, (/media/user/data/), the deleted files also do not show up on delete files log within the Recycle Bin page. Only when I delete files from Windows \\UNRAID\data, then it shows up on delete files log.

Recycle Bin (vfs recycle) for SMB Shares
I do see a .Recyle.Bin folder at the disk level (U:\user\.Recycle.Bin), but it does not catch anything that I delete from rootshare ("U:\user\data") and the folder stays empty. The existence of this folder is probably from previous revision when it worked. When I delete from root share ("U:\user\data"), the delete data log does not show those delete files. However, the delete data log works correctly when delete through share ("\\UNRAID\data").

Recycle Bin (vfs recycle) for SMB Shares
My test files were notepad file with random strings of text and photos. On my windows PC, I have mapped the rootshare to 'U:' drive. When I delete test files through windows "U:\user\data" Recyclin Bin does not catch them. However, when I delete test files through windows "\\UNRAID\data", Recylin bin does work! Do you know what is causing this? I think I have been using rootshare U drive since I set it up because I occasionally move files between shares. Cheers

Recycle Bin (vfs recycle) for SMB Shares
I updated to 6.12.6 and update any outdated plugins. Please see the new diagnostics attached. My media user shares have SMB export enabled, but under the Recyclin bin settings, I don't the SMB share is empty. I assume this is what's causing issues? Thank you. unraid-diagnostics-20240211-1343.zip

Recycle Bin (vfs recycle) for SMB Shares
Hi dlandon, I am running Unraid 6.11.1, and the Recyclin Bin plugin stopped working months ago, but I was not able to figure out why. I suspect I may have screwed something up when setting up rootshare. I've taken the following steps: - Empty all trash - Reinstalled the plugin - Restarted the server - Test delete files and no luck. The deleted files are not being logged, and the /Media/.Recycle.Bin folder remains empty. I expect deleted files to be logged and moved to the .Recycle.Bin folder upon deletion. The deleted files log and SMB Share are both empty. I've also attached the system diagnostic.zip file for further analysis. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. unraid-diagnostics-20240210-2255.zip

(SOLVED) Cache drive hardware failure (no backup) – Next steps
Thanks for the tips Kilrah. Will do this tonight.

(SOLVED) Cache drive hardware failure (no backup) – Next steps
The boot drive should be still intact, I also have automated backups from My Servers. I am assuming array hard drives are okay at this point, and I will find out once I test my power supply and boot into bios. Good to hear the data should be fine. I have dockers on the cache drive, but no backup of it. Thanks.

(SOLVED) Cache drive hardware failure (no backup) – Next steps
I have a recent backup of the flash drive and I did make a partial screenshot of the array order. The flash drive should also be intact. My plan is to test power supply and when the new SSD cache drive arrives, I will boot into bios and see if array of hard drives are detected. Thanks.

(SOLVED) Cache drive hardware failure (no backup) – Next steps
Hi all, I was running Unraid 6.8-6.9? (unsure of the version) , and I migrated my PC hardware to a new computer case. I was short on SATA power connectors and made the mistake of using a cheap molex to sata adapter which fried my SSD cache drive. First boot the PC powered off immediately, so I unplugged all hard drives and booted with SSD only to troubleshoot. On second boot, the SSD started smoking and I immediately shutdown my system. On second boot, all the hard drives were unplugged, so I hope the hard drives are not damaged. I tried installing one of the hard drive via USB dock and it does spin up, however because I'm on windows it is unable to detect due to its format. I did not make a backup of my cache drive and expect to lose all data on cache. My objective is to recover the data on the hard drives (assuming all hard drives have not been damaged). I am prepared to install a new SSD cache drive and start from scratch. Please advise the next steps in “rebuilding” the server after installing a new cache drive. Any help is much appreciated, cheers. An update on this for anyone in similar scenario: -Luckily the array of hard drives and boot flash drive undamaged -PC Power supply undamaged -Plug in new cache drive and reinstall "previous Apps" as Kilrah suggested -Everything worked as expected Lesson learned: install Appdata Backup/Restore v2
