And how do I use 'screen'? Is this the feature of telnet program? like putty or bitwise? Thanks

Hi, i have a question: if i put new disk into NAS, and connect to NAS through telnet (or SSH terminal) and start preclearing and then exit telnet...will the preclear process stop or no? And if it won't, how can I connect again and see the progress status? Thanks Edit: And if i accidentally close telnet (or my isp drops), what will happen to the disk? What should I do then?
