I use unRaid as my NAS, and there is a server in the LAN to read files from unRaid's SMB shared directory to complete some computing work.
And I recently encountered such a situation, when unRaid is executing Move or Parity-Check, the request latency from the computing server will become very long, and even cause some exception about IO timeout. So, the computing task is aborted. (Although I have set the Mover just run in early morning, but the computing works has not yet completed)
I hope that unRaid can lower the IO priority of Mover and Parity-Checker, even if Mover or Parity-Checker has been started, if there is access from a shared directory or VM, respond to these requests as soon as possible. At the same time, Mover and Parity-Checker reserve part of the IO bandwidth to respond to access requests.
I don't know whether it's hardcore, but I believe unRaid.
