    Ta @tjb_altf4, Is this the same case for example using a Card that is PCIe 2.0 8x in a PCIe 3.0 4x slot? as it will only be connecting with half of the lanes?

    Thanks @Michael_P, Would that not mean as an example the NIC would be in a 16x pcie version 3.0 slot that can only run at x4 and the NIC needs/wants a PCIe version 3.0 8x slot?

    Hey all, Can you please give me a hand. I currently have a Gigabyte Z390 UD with a Intel 9900K. I would like help sorting out/finding how I can run a SAS controller, Video card and a 10gbe NIC. Struggling to understand PCI versions and speeds etc. It looks like this mother board only have 1 x PCI 16x 3.0 @ 16x 2 x PCI x16 slots running at x4 Thanks Theun
