  1. i did end up resolving my issue. Sadly I couldn't find any plugins that worked showing me what files were causing the spin up. IOTOP helped once as I saw it throw a docker item. Docker vDisk location-path uses /mnt/usr by default I forced mine to my cache array path NOT through /usr. I also went through every docker and updated the path to use cache only. I have dedicated SSDs for this purpose so this may not apply to everyone. Since doing that my drives are spinning down and all writes are going to the cache.
  2. Hello everyone, So my parity and 1 drive (disk 1) will not spin down. I do see writes to it but can not figure out what is writing to the actual drives. I have a pool of SSDs with cache setting ONLY for both VMs and Dockers. I can confirm that both docker and VMs are in the SSD pools only and not on the array (Except the main folder but its empty). So thats appata, domain, system just empty folders on Disk 1. So I installed some plugins to help Active Streams and FileActivity. For sure no active streams an FileActivity I am just logging disk. But the disk logs are never disk1. So anyone else have advice on a better way to see what is writing to a specific disk in near real time?
  3. Thanks JonathanM I will toss a 4th drive in there and let it RAID 1 then. Take care and Happy New Years!
  4. Tried to find in docs but question on Pool drives. Cache specific but probably any pool type. So in my main UnRAID array I have several pools all have 2 like drives so they are RAID1 mirrors essentially. For cache support on another new UnRAID array I am building for a backup I put in 3 drives. It looks ilke it mirrored 2 of the drives while the 3rd is a hot spare. Question is if I add a 4th like drive will this RAID 10 and basically mirror both and then stripe them together? Or will it just make it another hot space? I know UnRAID isnt a RAID just trying to reference the logic hope thats cool. Thanks in advance all
  5. New to UnRAID... man this is awesome. Days later --- hhmmm disk are not spinning down. Cache folder setup maybe... hhhmmm still no spin down. Find this APP --- install -- disk spin down as expected. Awesome! Just wanted to say thank for the plugin 😃 **All WD RE and Gold drives here so no issues
  6. Just in case this comes up for someone on a search here is what I did. I just purchased an HDhomerun to deal with the cable and did not use the Hauppauge USB TV tuner. I feel like UnRAID dealing with that device directly is "out of scope" Emby can use HDHomerun natively 3 seconds to configure Using emby docker btw works awesome If you are using a GPU make SURE you follow this thread and directions - he even references Emby directly The hardware helps a ton with transcoding etc. All in all it runs far better then being inside a VM - and runs better then my windows box did 😃
  7. Thanks again trurl - You were right - should have put 2 and 2 together as the Zabbix agent was my last installed docker. It was making the /mnt/cache folder. Updated the confirg no issues now. *replaced disk 4 as well, that IT itch* lol good disk but they are pulls. Appreciate the quick support
  8. There is a large 4TB data move to this and thats the disk in operation. Yeah its got 215 errors so far. I am going to replace it. I had a parity drive have the same read errors as well. They are still good but I have some spares to replace with so I will. Thanks for noting 😃
  9. Hey Trurl - there is a directory called cache. You are correct first thing I did was rename that cache drive once I realized I was going to add a few pools. Your command above the ONLY directory not highlighted in green is cache. As for the cache folder it is empty I assume I should just remove it
  10. See attached unraid-diagnostics-20211104-0905.zip
  11. New guy to UnRAID - So far its been awesome for sure will be a purchase as it far exceeds expectations. I will write a whole thing on this to them probably next week. Feedback is good and stuff. Anyways the heart of the issue. So I added the "Fix Common Problems" app and did all the fun scans. "Error logged comes back as Invalid folder cache contained within /mnt" with a suggested fix of "Generally speaking, most times when other folders get created within /mnt it is a result of an improperly configured application. This error may or may not cause issues for you". So if I go to terminal and look at all folders in /mnt they are all proper to my array. I do not have any old cache folders or anything that stands out wrong. Is there a way to see what folder it thinks is the issue? I checked the logs near the terminal icon - and it said the exact same thing but didn't tell me what is the root cause issue. Or did I completely miss something?
  12. With all the stuff I read on passing devices, needing extra stuff to program the channels with Hauppauge TV side... I decided to get an HDHomerunner and take that tuner out of the mix. I dont expect UnRAID to support it as it just requires a lot of stuff at the kernal level it looks like. Id hate to see things like this break after updates as well which looks possible. Either way gonna push this out. Side note - I did build a VM with win 10 and passed the USB device directly too it and it works fine. Can program the tuner and Emby can use the tuner with a local emby install. So it works if you need this.
  13. Hey Everyone, So new user to UnRAID. Lot of great things I want to say, saving that for a follow up post. But here is my simple question that I read a ton of mixed things on. So I want to run an Emby Docker and use my Hauppauge WinTV Dual-HD (USB device) to get a live TV feed. What exactly is required for this? I know in windows you need a driver, and a special utility to setup before Emby detects the TV tuner. One thread said I needed a tvheadend app for it I think. Do I need to configure the tuner in tvheadend, then point emby to the tvheadend to make it work? Any points would help as I have not done a tvtuner in nix before =/ Thanks in advance
