  1. Got it, thank you for the help and quick reply!
  2. I know 4H is not enough, but will the test running prevent a spin down?
  3. Hey guys, It seems like spinning down is such a common question that I can't sift through enough threads/information to get to what I'm looking for. I have a 30 8TB drive array, mostly storage, that's set to spin down after 4 hours. I want to spin up a single drive to run an extended SMART test, but can't for the life of my find a place to spin up a single disk. Help! On a side note, does the 4 hour spin down delay I set apply if there is a SMART test running? Thanks! Justin
  4. Just to close the loop on this - I reached out to Seagate, they gave me a bit of run around and ended up suggesting that I just return it and buy a new one.
  5. Hey Guys, Been reading about this for a bit but wanted to ask about my specific case - I have a Barracuda 8TB drive with 65 hours on it - I did a preclear and then added it to the array, which went smoothly. I'm writing to the drive for the first time, and at shortly after starting the transfer the reallocated sector count reported at 8. It didn't seem alarming after I read a few articles, so I acknowledged it and let the transfer continue. About 900GB in I checked in on the server and now the reallocated sector count is at 96. I stopped the transfer, but I don't know if I should replace the drive before running in to a real issue. Since this is a brand new drive, should I try to RMA it? Is it something I need to worry about? I've never done a full SMART test on it - would this give a better understanding of what's happening? Thanks!
  6. So as long the extended SMART tests pass I'm good to go? Or are there things I should look out for?
  7. Hey guys, I have a good handle on Unraid, but when it comes to the SMART reports, I have no clue what I'm looking at. I have an old-ish 4TB drive that was flagged with a "Reported uncorrect" warning. Few things- I replaced this drive and it's been in my pile of "old drives" that I'm trying to decide what to do with. I'm setting up a new server on a Supermicro 36 bay, so now that I have room for more drives I want to put any old drives back in that I may have replaced prematurely. The count doesn't look like it's changed in a while, but I do keep getting yellow notifications in Unraid that there's an issue. Can I update this so I only get notified if it increases? I ran an extended SMART test and it completed successfully, the log is attached. Based on this, can I keep using the drive or should I send it to pasture? I have a few more drives I need to revisit, but can somebody point me toward some information that would help me better understand the "replace me" indicators in the SMART report? I'd rather not make a bunch of posts asking people to review them for me if there's an easy way for me to learn how to interpret them. Thanks! Justin ST4000DM004-2CV104_ZFN07LXM-20220105-1305.txt
