  1. The workaround is very manual. A Firefox Docker on Unraid. Every time daughter visits, she uses the Firefox to order Takeout on Google, set it to download the files and close her browser, while the docker'ed Firefox continue the download of takeout files.

Rather manual, but very simple and takes only but a few minutes. Effort/Risk ratio is good.

  2. Background is that we recently moved a daughter from a regular windows laptop to a Chromebook/Google Drive/Photos setup.

She will access those data from her chrome book, phone, tablet and a browser at work.

    Lots of pros and cons.

Now we would like to setup an automated backup of her data placed at Google Drive/Photos. It is not a lot, just about 80G.

Manual exports, or trusting that Google never fails, is not in scope :)

Anyone with a good idea for this?

  3. To me the basics are:

    -Monitoring/Verifying data integrity
    -Monitoring hardware health
-Having a step by step foolproof hardware failure plan
    -Optimize power saving
    -Optimize read/write speeds
    -Scanning for problems
    -Scanning for virus/malware in data
-Monitoring logs/Early warning when unexpected things happen.

I'm a huge podcast fan, so I think this could be worth a try.

  4. Is it possible to have some progress indicator on the log, maybe a file counter that updated every hour or similar?

I'm about to scan 2.1 mill files, which I assume will take quite a long time, so some sort of indicator would be helpful.

  5. Great Plugin, love it, awesome work.

When I run an extended scan, it scans my /URbackup/ for a rather long time. Last time I gave up, it had been running for 5 days.

The /URbackup contain approximately 2 million files, so yes it is a lot of files.

Should I just wait it out, or should I start troubleshooting?

I tried browsing the System Log to see any messages of problems or progress, but found none. Am I looking in the wrong place?

I've never had a lockup from RDP BOINC, but it will take a lot of your CPU if you let it. Here is what I have set:

    • Use at most 50 % of the CPUs
    • Use at most 50 % of CPU time
    • Suspend when non-BOINC CPU usage is above 25 %

I am sure that is conservative. I have a pretty simple setup though, only 4 cores. No VMs, 10 or so dockers, nothing pinned.

@trurl @Constructor  Does "Suspend when non-BOINC CPU usage is above 25 %" work for you?

I want Boinc to suspend, when the server starts its dayjob of Plex streaming, but I cant get it to work.

  7. Hi All

Was happy with Crashplan for a long time, but switched to Idrive for backing up the increasing number of mobile devices in the family.

    Idrive makes some linux stuff...

Have anyone got Idrive working on Unraid, which could give me some hints or a how-to, I would be grateful !!

  8. There is a number of things that can cause the drives to overheat: drive failure, fan failure, prolonged extreme use, heatwave, aircon failure, open window, closed window, accidential turning on a radiator, extra new installed drives, new hotter drives.

Since it is hard to establish how much headroom one has in a certain setup, how far one is from the point where the fans cant move enough air to keep the drives at a safe temp, it would be nice to have an automatic shutdown of overheated drives.

    /Rene
