  1. Thanks for this great add on. I was wondering if I login to the Web GUI via a client in the LAN and use the command line tool to do some file copying, will the job continue if I closed the web page? In other words, will the session continue even if I got disconnected from the server web GUI?
  2. Thanks for your help. I have run the reiserfsck as you have mentioned and I could not find anything wrong (the outcome as follows). Should I still run the command: "reiserfsck --fix-fixable /dev/md1" ? ....... Replaying journal: Done. Reiserfs journal '/dev/md1' in blocks [18..8211]: 0 transactions replayed Checking internal tree.. finished Comparing bitmaps..finished Checking Semantic tree: finished No corruptions found There are on the filesystem: Leaves 300558 Internal nodes 1894 Directories 30775 Other files 303253 Data block pointers 245782186 (0 of them are zero) Safe links 0
  3. Thank you very much. I checked the cables and power, could not find anything wrong. Stopped the array, unassigned the parity disk, started, stopped the array, assigned the disk and let the parity build. Everything seems to be ok, some random check on the files turned out ok. The smart test on the disks (Disk 1 and parity) and the file check passed. I don't know what went wrong and feel a little bit uneasy know. Should I change the Disk 1 or the parity to be on the safer side, or just ignore what has happened, I don't know.
  4. Hi everybody, I have done searching to no avail. All of sudden I have noticed that my parity Drive has a red ball and 9 errors with disk one green ball but with 55 errors. I have tried to stop the array but lost the http connection to the server's GUI. Before losing the connection I tried to run a smart short test on my parity drive and got a line saying "smartctl: device read identity failed (not an ATA/ATAPI drive). A mandatory smart command failed, exiting". What should I do next? Please find attached my syslog. syslog.txt
  5. Are you using samba USER shares? Accordingly, the correct path in twonky's settings GUI should be: /mnt/user/YOURSHARE. At least user shares do work. I am not quite sure about direct disk access.
  6. Did you try this without touching the script with your text editor? Some unsuitable text editors or formats leave traces (carriage return / line feed) which you don't see but prevent the script to run.
  7. Do you use "chmod +x" after you create the script? Maybe the editor you use is not ok? Try to copy/duplicate a working script, do not open it with your editor, just rename it and try to see if it works.
  8. What do you see whe you go to the scripts page of unmenu (http://yourUnRaidServername:8080/user_scripts)? The first script should be HELLO WORLD. What happens when you click that button? You should see "Hello world" typed at the lower part of the same page. If you see that then the scripts should work, I assume. If you don't see that then you should probably ask in the unmenu thread.
  9. I am not sure why the user scripts to start and stop the TMS are not working, however, you can stop it by doing the following: - go and connect to your unRaid server using telnet or ssh - issue the following commands (same lines as in the scripts): echo "<pre>" set -xv av_pid=$(ps -ef | grep twonkymedia | grep -v grep | awk '{print$2}'); test "$av_pid" != "" && kill $av_pid and you start by the following command: echo "<pre>" /mnt/cache/.packages/twonkyserver/twonkymedia -inifile /mnt/cache/.packages/tms/twonkymedia/twonkymedia/twonkymedia-server.ini Please double check these with the scripts above: - you have installed them in /boot/unmenu - you have remembered to REMOVE the .txt suffix from both files. Consequently you should have "2222-unmenu_user_script_start_twonkymedia" and "2222-unmenu_user_script_stop_twonkymedia" in that directory. The leading number 2222 is not important, an number goes if it does not conflict with the other scripts of the unmenu - you should make those both scripts executable by using chmod command. First go to the directory where your scripts are (1) and then issue the chmod command (2): (1) cd /boot/unmenu/ (2) chmod +x 2222-unmenu_user_script_start_twonkymedia 2222-unmenu_user_script_stop_twonkymedia
  10. According to the link to which you have referred to, it should be ok, if you install the twonky instead of cache, on your BOOT volume, which seems to be "/mnt/boot". In that case you should change "/mnt/cache/.packages/" to "/mnt/boot/" (you don't need ".packages" in between since the "boot" will not be in your array any way, so you don't need to hide the directory. ie tms and twonkymedia will be under /mnt/boot/).
  11. I have been running v0.9.5.1-56298e9 since Nov 27th without a single crash.
  12. If you want to have a) both audio and video in one place and b) have beautiful media data such as album covers, film data and etc, c) use only the iOs devices or OsX to stream in addition want to use Air Play (Airport express or Imac/mini with air server installed or Apple TV 2nd gen), then PLEX is very nice. Twonky is simple and fast, runs in almost every device I used, but does not have all the bells and whistles. The Plex has (the only down side is that you cannot play VIDEO_TS folders without conversion). I have all (air video, twonky and plex) installed for testing purposes. The plex is the sexiest and requires plex client and you need to convert the video to a suitable format (h.264). The air video does online conversion but does not handle subtitles. The twonky is the modest looking, but functions with almost any player and you can choose the audio language as well as the subtitles. If you have a suitable player it functions almost with any client. You can also use any browser - html or flash based. ps: I added a comparison chart to another thread if you are interested: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=17041.0
  13. If you don't want to use your computer, the best way is to add a media server to unRaid (I use twonky media server - another option is media tomb or Plex). Airvideoserver is good for video, not music. Thereafter, you use your iphone or iPad and various mediaplayers (PlugPlayer, MPPlayerLite, GoodPlayer, BuzzPlayer, etc.) to stream music from unRaid. While playing you can easily choose to which speakers you want to send the output (like dining room 1 AE, room 2 AE etc). Make sure you use a digital audio connection between the AE and your AV receiver (using the digital output of AE not the analog) so the conversion from digital to analog is made via your amplifier not the AE. AE's DAC is not superb. There will be occasional drop-outs (lasting a second or two) while playing and that is entirely the fault of the AE. I have used wireless as well as the wired connection to AE, but could not get rid of these drop-outs entirely. However, that is not unbearable. Hope this helps.
  14. I have good news. I had severe problems with v13 and the kernel 3.1.0. I have posted the syslog in the v13 thread. Now, I have installed v14 and rebooted. Everything seems to be ok for the moment. No read errors from the disks. I do not use NFS, though. AFP and SMB ok. I have also a few add-ons, they seem to be working as well. Now, I will try to spin down and spin up and will let you know if I get any errors. Edit: No errors after spinning down and up manually or by trying to read from the array. In addition quite nice transfer speeds. Using AFP and a single 550MB file; download 65-73MB/s, upload to cache 45-49MB/s, to the array without using cache 36,6MB/s. Thanks, Tom. Thumbs up.
  15. If you have changed the paths, make sure that the Path to the Libray is similar to the examples given with regard to the upper/lower cases and the final slash.
  16. Is there anybody who is using Spotify plugin for their Plex installed in their unRaid server? I have the 0.9.5.1 version installed, however, cannot see the Spotify plugin under Music channels? It installs/updates/resets/restarts/ via the Plex client but does not show up anywhere. Checked from Plex forums and elsewhere - cannot find any solution. Any suggestions?
  17. I wouldn't suggest trying this. The file currently in /boot/extra is not a tar, it's a txz. It's a specially formed Slackware package, which the tar file in the downloaded Plex isn't. I'm not sure if the Slackware intallpkg would even extract a regular tar, and if it did, I can guarantee that it won't put the files where they are supposed to be. Bottom line, either wait for the new plug-in, or remove the current one, and switch to the "light" version, together with the Plex download. Cheers. You are right. I'm sorry for giving misleading info, which I have got from an earlier message in this thread. Later I realised that they have installed the light version. not this script. I have realised that "changing the name" did not work, I am in fact still running the older version. I have removed my earlier note in order not to cause further confusion. Thanks for correcting.
  18. Thanks I did the same trick, however, on the utility page of unRaid's GUI, the version still reads as 0.9.3.5. Is it the same in your situation or do you see the correct number of version, ie 0.9.5.1?
  19. I think these question would be better address on the Plex forum. This forum is more about the installation of the Plex server on unRAID. Cheers. I have checked with the Plex forums and it seems to be a well known bug with the PMS after version 8, however, it has not been acknowledged by the developers. A few people have managed to stream the VIDEO_TS folders by reinstalling the server from a scrath. Therefore, I wanted to ask once agin in these forums: could you stream VIDEO_TS or ISO images with using PMS installed on your unRaid? This is a little bit weird since if I choose the VIDEO_TS folder on my unRaid share via the finder (Os X Lion) and decide to open it using Plex, the Plex client could play it without any problem. This makes me think of a problem due to the incorrect path the Mac is trying to use. This does not help with iPad though. Going back to Twonky since it could stream anything put on it to any possible client I have used so far. The interface is a little bit boring compared to Plex though
  20. Is there any thing new with regard to this problem and is Limetech aware of this problem at all? I have not seen any comments from him
  21. I had read problems with disk1, which was shown unformatted. Here is the smart report of this disk if it helps. Until upgrading to v13, I had no disk errors. After trying to upgrade, I had at once 396 disk errors. The disk involved is a WD Green Caviar (WD20EADS), 2TB. The parity disk is also the same make. Can it be something related to this certain type of HDD? smart.txt
  22. I did a clean reinstall of my entire flash boot disk with my back-up from v 12a and rebooted via the shell script. Thereafter, it was up and running. All data and disks are ok with no disk (unaligned or unformatted) errors. All shares (AFP and SMB) are online and functioning The system is now rebuilding parity with no sync errors. This was a very good lesson for me. I would not have tried a beta as soon as it became available. At least with my 1.5 years old hardware, the v13 had severe issues. // modified typo errors
