  1. Oh that’s such a great idea! I work closely with many data centers (I’ve been in telecom for 27 years 🙈) and I hadn’t even thought to ask there. Thank you! any suggestions on a way to clean up all my Ethernet cords? A good place to buy patch panels and structured wiring panels?
  2. I am in the market for some hardware to better organize my home network and Unraid server and battery back up. I've attached pictures and I'm sure you can see it's a total mess. I know I can go to Best Buy or Amazon or wherever and source these. But I am sure there's a better place/a better way. Any suggestions on quality suppliers who are also reasonably priced to buy network cabinets, wall mounted server rack etc.? My OCD is making my eye twitch every time I go into my utility closet. TIA. Pictured below is my current state with all of my coax and ethernet modem etc. The Leviton is the current box. You can see my server on this wooden platform and the battery back up on a bucket of paint. Sigh. Don't shame me haha.

  5. I read this but I don't have a USB boot flash drive. Not something that's a boot of the existing. I literally have nothing but the server itself. Yikes - I know.
  6. I have not. Maybe one is already on there from the person I bought it from. I would go into the Webgui and dig a bit more but I can't log in now.
  7. I am trying to move/copy a folder from my unraid server to my Mac. I started the move and it went through like normal. It's ~500GB and it took a while to start the copying process. Once it was ready to copy it stopped and told me I don't have rights to copy. The "folders" are unlocked and they all have read & write permission. I was looking at the finder window for unraid. It says I'm logged in as guest. I thought perhaps that was the problem. I tried connecting from that window. But my password would not work. I typed it in here and it just "shook" each time. I logged in the webgui (using the saved password on my mac) and got in fine. I thought if I changed my password perhaps that would help me login on the folder. I changed my password but it also wouldn't work. And now when I try to log in to the webgui my new password won't work either. And neither will my old password. I tried clearing cache on my browser as well. I am a total rookie with unraid so be gentle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I didn't realize I couldn't store my Mac Photos Library on my server and it has caused all sorts of problems. I am just trying to move it back to my mac (well and external drive) and I can't understand why it won't let me move/copy it. Screenshots attached but lmk if anything else is needed to help. TIA!
  8. I am new to this forum and I am a complete rookie when it comes to Unraid. I am a network engineer/architect and all of my expertise comes on that side of the house. I bought this server from a friend and have had to do very little to it over the last year and a half. I use it exclusively to stream my private video library on the plex app. As I understand it the Plex is a docker (please forgive me for my ignorance). I recently had some issues that I thought I had resolved. (I had to make some configuration changes on my router to ensure that remote access worked consistently - I made sure that my router is always looking for a specific ip if/when things go down.) Yesterday I was not able to see my movies on Plex so I attempted to go to my Unraid dashboard. Usually when I put the IP address into the search bar it comes up within 1-2 seconds (my internet connection is 500+). Now it is taking 30-60 seconds to bring the dashboard up. The top bar usually shows DASHBOARD, MAIN, SHARES, USERS, SETTINGS, PLUGINS, DOCKER, VMS, APPS, TOOLS. Right now all it is showing is DASHBOARD, MAIN, SHARES, USERS, SETTINGS, PLUGINS. The other problem is that nothing shows up under any of those tabs. The Dash usually shows a lot of information. Main shows all of my disks. See picture below. I have 13 disks with 12TB on each. My first thought is to shut the power off to the server and give it some time to go down and then restart. However, that makes me nervous as I don't know the possible repercussions of that action. Should I shut it off manually? Will I lose all of my data if I do that? If that is not the first step can I get some advice on troubleshooting? I apologize if I am not asking the right questions or if I am not framing them correctly. If you need additional information I am happy to try and get it. As I stated I am a total rookie and this is definitely not my field, or my skill set. I am very willing to learn and I hope that this forum will be a good place to do that. Thank you in advance for bearing with my ignorance and for any help that you can give me.
