  2. thanks, I just emailed them. 16 drives should last me for some time.
  3. I have a Norco 4220 case, I don't need or have 20 drives right now but who knows what I will need down the road. How many drives would you say the Biostar can handle to run best? I will be using 2tb parity drive, and 3- 500gig to start out but plan on adding a couple 1.5 tb in the near future.
  4. Can the BIOSTAR A760G M2+ support 20 drives?
  5. Wow, just heard back from Norco, that was fast. Since very few customers use floppy drive now, we use a 2.5" OS drive bracket instead. This is the only change so far. We're going to change the 80mm x4 fan wall to 120mm x3 in Q2. Thanks
  6. It is built very nice. I installed one drive and it slid right in.
  7. Hi, just wanted to let you know that I just received my Norco 4220 case from Newegg and it no longer has a place for a floppy drive on the right side. Not a big deal to me but thought I would let everyone know. I emailed them to see if there are any other changes, when I here back I will let you know.
  8. I thought I was ready to order everything but now I am looking to the future. What mobo, cpu etc would you guys recommend, my case can support up to 20 drives (Norco 4220). Now I don't plan on having 20 drives anytime soon but I would like to have the option to add that many if I need to. I prefer, Asus and Supermicro but will consider all mobo's Would like to keep it round $500 or less. Will be used strickly for unRaid to store Music, Photos and Movies. Thanks
  9. I just ordered my case, NORCO 4220 and I got a free 1TB Hitachi drive and free shipping from newegg. Not a big fan of Hitachi but this was a better deal than the 3216 I was looking at. Hope to order all the other parts in about two weeks.
  10. If I get this case is there anything special I need to know beside needing reverse breakout cables? http://www.norcotek.com/item_detail.php?categoryid=1&modelno=RPC-3216
  11. So it looks like I will be ordering everything in about a week. I currently have 2 500gig seagate drives and looking to buy 2 1.5tb drives. What do you guys recommend? Also the one 1.5tb drive would be a parity drive correct? Can you have more than one parity drive?
  12. just curious, what case is on the main page, the picture says Blue Server.
  13. OK, no problem. You mentioned permissions and I was going to ask this later but I will ask now. I plan on using this to store movies, photos and music mainly. Can I set it up so only I can delete files and my wife will only have read access? I will by using XBMC or Plex along with iTunes. I'm not to worried about it if I can't but it would be a nice option.
  14. Should I buy a second registration key? Don't know why I would really need one I have never had a flash drive go bad
  15. The only reason I picked that PSU was for furture expansion but not sure when that might be. I will go with the 400 and not use a cache drive. I do want my data to be protected, I was going to buy a QNAP or a synology untill I found out about unRAID. Thanks for all the help.
  16. Then is looks like I will go with this and this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 Last question for now. How hard/easy is it to set up unraid? Still not sure about the whole cache and parity drive thing yet?
  17. So with the above recommendation I don't need a raid card, since the board supports 6 sata drive correct?
  18. I know this is a little over kill but I have always had good experince with Supermicro, what do you think? I like ASUS, Supermicro and Gigabyte. I was looking for one that had on board video, 6 SATA and on board USB on the mobo so I could keep the flash drive inside the case. SUPERMICRO MBD-C2SBC-Q-O LGA 775 Intel Q35 ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182151
  19. thanks, I will start looking. Does anyone have a mobo, cpu (not a Celeron) disk controller or case you like/recommend? I always get my stuff from newegg so any links to them would be great.
  20. Hi, I just found out about unRAID and I like what I see. I am looking to use this with a Mac Mini which I use as a HTPC to store DVD rips, photos and music. My question is if I build my own how much money can I save and how much RAM and CPU power do I need? I don't need to buy any drives yet since I have 3 that will work. I just plan on using it to store my media and using my Mac Mini with XBMC/PLEX to play the media. Also has anyone recently built one similar to what I need for under $500? Thanks
