Hi sorry for another question but I just upgraded from an A10-6700 to an i5-1300 and was under the assumption that my system would run quicker, but running parity rebuild it doesn’t seem so the cpu cores are hardly moving, explain please ? Thanks

Thanks for the help

Solved, sorry I am impatient and have decided to create a new config as it could be next weekend before my new disk arrives

Thanks for the help, old array drive cleared and removed but can I ask I is it okay to just run with a missing disk in the array as shown, I will be taking the parity disk and replacing with a new disk and adding the existing parity disk to the array ?
-
Hi I am currently clearing a drive from the array that I wish to remove completely, I also want to upgrade my parity drive with a larger drive and place the existing parity drive in place of the removed array drive. Any help on this please ? Thanks
-
Hi so atm I have 4x4Tb drives one as parity, now just ordered a 18tb drive and I was planning on using it as parity and then would have the 4tb drives as array but wondered about running without parity till I can afford to get another 18tb drive (couple of months) and then use this as a new parity drive. Opinions please ? Thanks

Thanks

Nvme or a expansion card for more sata ports
robti replied to robti's topic in Storage Devices and Controllers
sorry they weren't lost in that sense, my bad phrasing, my old mb had 8 sata ports and i was using 7 of them, in a rush to upgrade to new mb i then found out that it only had 6 ports. Got round it by connecting one of the ssd drives by a usb adaptor and when up and running i used mc to move the files onto the nvme and after removing that ssd and running a parity check everything seems to be okay. Thanks -
should have said running 6.11.5 Thanks i hope i solved this. i plugged the ssd into a usb port using an adaptor, and using mc moved all the files off it onto the new nvme, changed all the shares to point at this new disk and rebooted the system and it rebuilt parity ( think this was because i deleted the ssd after moving everything over) and everything appears to be working okay. Does this sound okay ? Thanks broxi-diagnostics-20230525-1050.zip

Hi so got in a mess upgraded my motherboard and found it had less sata ports, so ordered a nvme to replace one of my ssd drives. So I have a 1 Tb cache ssd with app data drive and a 120gb ssd with vm/docker on it and only one spare sata port, any help on how to do this ? Thanks

Nvme or a expansion card for more sata ports
robti posted a topic in Storage Devices and Controllers
Hi all upgrading my server and discovered that I am losing sata ports 8 down to 6 , so I am left with a 1Tb cache ssd and a 120 Gb vm/docker ssd to fit into one spare port. So wondered if I should just get a nvme and problem solved or go for a pcie-sata expansion card, any help ? Thanks -
Sorry i did look but couldn't find anything. so got a pile of new hardware and only keeping my disks, so best way to swap the disks over after building the rest ? Thanks

Thanks plex also lost its libraries at this time so decided to uninstall and delete everything relating to plex, clean install and rescanned with fix common problems and all clear now and all plex files in the appdata in cache_ssd. Thanks
-
fix common problems reports this "Invalid folder cache contained within /mnt" had a look at my shares and they all point to cache_ ssd or vm_cache so where to look now think its plex as its appeared in /mnt/cache/appdata and also in /mnt/cache_ssd where it was supposed to be,and plex lost all libraries after this, any help please broxi-diagnostics-20230519-0754.zip

can i ask does appdata change in size when you download files or stay the same
-
Hi so i just seen that my appdata is in the array and not on a cache drive, i found out because one drive was always spun up when qbitorrent was running, so should it be on my cache drive ( 1TB) or on the vm/docker ssd (120Gb) ? Thanks
