  1. Just wanted to say that this plugin is spectacular! I just converted 4 drives to XFS and this made it dead simple. Two observations that might be useful to other noobs (or those with a general lack of unix skillz): - I needed to fix permissions after reformatting each drive. I'm not sure if that was a by-product of unBALANCE or the array itself, but I would get code 23s if I tried to move from one disk to another directly after reformatting. - It seemed like the GUI needed to be displayed in order for it to work. My computer fell asleep during the move process and I assumed that it would continue, but there was still data left on the disk the next day. At any rate, thanks so much for making this so easy to do. Do you have a donate page or anything?
  2. Meowlright - after a couple of snafus during the upgrade process, everything seems to be in working order. Thanks everyone for your help!
  3. dgaschk - workday was pretty busy yesterday; will hopefully update tonight - thanks very much! whiteatom - nope; am I supposed to do that? Do I just delete everything in them? I guess I haven't gotten that far in the tutorials - sorry for the noobness.
  4. Web gui back up this morning and the key seems to be working! I'm not sure if I trust it just yet. Result of ps x | grep emhttp: 1212 ? S1 0:02 /usr/local/sbin/emhttp 2151 pts/0 S+ 0:00 grep emhttp That was with the array off. I've attached the syslog and I'm running 5rc-11. Is there something specific I should be looking for in there? Thanks for the help! SYSLOG.zip
  5. It seems to be booting just fine. I got to the 'tower: login'; however, the web interface still wasn't loading. After I typed root at the login, it seemed to 'catch up' (for lack of a better term) and loaded. I then pulled the .key into \config on the flashdrive and it again stopped working. I checked the network.cfg file and none of my settings were there. I changed the file to the current settings and the web interface still isn't working. I can see the flash drive in my network, so it seems like it's connecting. Is there something specific you'd like me to look for? Thanks!
  6. Hi everyone, I recently purchased a pro key and have been having problems since I tried to upgrade. Everything was working swimmingly before the attempt, so it seems kinda crazy that these issues have cropped up. I'm not the most knowledgeable with unRAID, so you may have to bear with me. Here's what I did: 1. Finished copying some files using synctoy 2. Started a parity check, decided it was going to take too long and stopped it. 3. Copied the .key file to the 'config' folder using the network drive 4. Rebooted the system using the web interface 5. It never came back up after rebooting (after letting it sit for ~10 hours), so I hard stopped. 6. Powered back on - no go 7. Hard powered off, removed flash and removed .key file 8. Restarted - no go I've been pinging it since, but I keep getting "Destination host unreachable." I tried changing the port on the switch, changing the LAN port (I have 2 on my board) and changing the USB stick location (not sure if it would do anything, but worth a shot, I guess). The other computer attached to the switch is responding, so I don't think it's that. Any suggestions/questions/acts of god are welcome. Thanks! Jeff
  7. Phew - had some hardware issues, but everything seems to be working just fine. Thanks again for everyone's help - it was most appreciated!
  8. Sorry for the late reply, but I let it sit overnight with the CMOS battery out to try to reset the BIOS. You were right, Frank - it wouldn't boot without the keyboard. I didn't even know that was a setting, let alone one that could cause some problems. I got it to boot up after the keyboard was attached and changed the setting to boot if any error was detected (no keyboard, etc.). Unfortunately, now it's not booting (even with a keyboard and video card attached) and I can't get into the BIOS. If I can get it to boot again, I'll look into the GT220 - thanks BetaQuasi! Since this is a separate issue, should I mark this thread as "Solved"? Thanks for your help everyone!
  9. I didn't hear any, so I thought that the error was with the boot or the software or something. I'll give the powering off a shot, reinstall the video card and connect it to a monitor to troubleshoot. I just did a few quick searches, and didn't see anything, but does that mean the box won't run at all without a video card? I was hoping to keep it as barebones as possible. I'll report back shortly after I reinstall everything - thanks!
  10. Tried that earlier, but I just switched it again to double check - no go. Does that mean that it will only work with the LAN port with which it was configured? Thanks for replying!
  11. Thanks for replying! Ha - you're right about the keyboard connection; guess I should've checked the specs. This is the MB: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5N32E_SLI/#specifications It's older hardware that was given to me and it included a GeForce 8800 gts, which seemed like way too much for this. I didn't want to have to buy another video card with lower specs, yada yada yada. However, do I need to run the unRAID box with a video card? Or would the video card only be used for troubleshooting purposes? Do you think there's any chance the hard drives could get gooned by a hard stop?
  12. Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to unRAID, so I apologize for the potentially noob-type issue. I searched the forum, but I didn't see anything related to my problem; if I missed something, I apologize. Here's the sitch: I followed the user guide to set everything up and it was working very well; I precleared my drives and was getting ready to start moving files into the array. For the initial set-up, I had to put a video card in to connect to a monitor (the MB only has S-video out and I have no adapters). Since everything was running well, I shut down the array and the machine through the web interface, removed the video card and powered it back on, but now I can't connect to it. I looked the IP address up through the router and tried pinging it, but "the destination host is unreachable." I tried a telnet session, too, just in case that would do anything to no avail. I can definitely put the video card back in to troubleshoot further, but I don't know if it's safe to power it down manually, as I don't want to damage the drives that are in there. Any thoughts are most appreciated - thanks!
