  1. my t320 does the no boot device found when reset but the r720 is fine all firmware, bios, life cycle controler and idrac on the latest version all boot devices except drive c disables and boot device set to internal usb nothing else i can think of is changed or modified
  2. Its worth a look but I dont beleive these dell have a fast boot option. It seems to be slow boot or slower boot Are you on the latest bios Cameron?
  3. The same happens on my T320 after reboot it wouldnt see the drive but hit f11 for boot manager or try again and its fine but ive not looked into it yet. You could try disabeling all other boot devices and drives in bios and see if that sorts it
  4. Now that I dont know. So r720 in the attic then stream it to low power laptop or somthing? That might be a search bar job and then question time on the forum. It sounds like somthing Linus did so probably a bit of youtubing too. Sounds interesting and I wouldnt mind knowing that myself Just make sure any cables you get are for the r720. Dell do some weird wiring pin outs that can fry components if its not from the correct model I got two of these off ebay for the nvme drives. Sabrent NVMe M.2 SSD to PCIe X16/X8/X4 Card with aluminum heat sink (EC-PCIE) and installed them in the pcie cage at the rear right hand side looking at it from the front you can get cheaper adaptors but I wanted the heat sinks
  5. Also took a couple of reboots before the nvme drives showed up in unraid. Was getting worried but i think it just needs to run through the boot up / check system inventory and (learn?) that it has new components
  6. No problem at all. I am transfering my quadro p2000 over for plex transcoding and its basicaly a slightly slower gtx 1060 with 5gig of vram Single slot full height and no external power required. Amazing if you need the transcoding in the future and will play battlefield 5 at medium/high mix 50 to 55 fps ish 1080p Fancy a gpu with more grunt that needs external power then get on ebay and search for the following..... Dell PowerEdge - R720 R730 R7910 8 Pin Split GPU Power Adapter Cable - 0N08NH
  7. Recently aquired a R720 myself and looking at moving all my data over. 1) Set bios boot to BIOS not UEFI. Didnt seem to matter what I tried it just didnt want to know when set to UEFI * To set boot order hit F2 on bios screen to enter set up * Go down to boot settings * For boot mode select BIOS * Scroll down BIOS boot settings and select it * Scroll down to hard disk drive sequence then when your flash drive is highlighted press + until its at the top of the list and click OK * Make sure boot option enabled/disabled has a tick in Drive C * Top option on the same screen is Boot sequence then when Drive C is highlighted press + until its at the top then click OK * Then click BACK, BACK, FINISH and Yes to save changes * You will be told the changes have saved so click finish to exit and reboot You should now boot from usb into unraid without having to change or select anything during bootup 2) Flash raid card to IT mode (lots of good writen and video guides online) at this point you are good to go. Other tips... If you want Nvme drives in your system for cache then purchace Pcie to Nvme cards adaptors VERY IMPORTANT you only get the single slot nvme cards as the r720 does not support PCIe Bifurcation and will only see 1 of 2 drives on a dual slot card I purchaced two from ebay sorting by price lowest. search pcie to nvme adapter "SINGLE NVME SLOT ONLY!" Sata power for ssd drives can be had from the dvd sata conector. You could use a splitter for the sata power to use on two ssds and still be using less wattage than a dvd burner would use peak. 2 sata data connectors on the motherboard only and they are sata2 speeds Watching youtube videos on how easy it is to upgrade Bios and firmware through the lifecycle controller is now out of date as Dell no longer offer support for Gen12 or earlier via HTTPS and it is now done through a repository manager. Info is on the repository manager is on dell.com website or you can download each bios/firmware you need from dell and upgrade it through the lifecycle controller or idrac. I found doing it through idrac worked best and didnt keep throwing up cant do this! Certificate not signed that! that the lifecycle controler did Try using your r720 as it came to you if you dont feel comfortable flashing firmware or bios files as it can brick your system if it goes wrong. More bios settings yayyyyyyy power options in bios allow you to alter cpu, memory and fan power settings from maximum performance to performance per watt either saving power and reducing noise or going for best performance depending on your use case I think thats about it... Server settings are a personal choice so go through and tweek things how you like it and enjoy
  8. Im running the same machine for my family plex/media/gaming server and they are amazing bits of kit for the price 😃👍 I spent a little more but thats because i wanted a p2000 gpu for it..... and more memory just because..... and a cpu upgrade..... and other shiny bits🤦‍♂️
  9. Im currently running a h710 and all 8 hotswap bays are full My plan is to remove the unused dvd drive and two 5.25 blanks to install a 5 bay hdd enclosure. my problem is not enough sas connectors so is it best to install a second perc for the 5 bay or replace the h710 with somthing different? All drives will be internal so no external sas connectors needed
  10. Hi Arbadacarba. I have just bench marked the cache and the speed is the same of 274.44MB/sec however...... the only ports i had available for the two sata3 ssds was sata2. If they were running on sata3 ports at full speed a difference would show up at that point if it was slower
  11. update time... step 1 complete, step 2 complete, step 3 mover run but data remains. appdata and system still have folders on the ssd. appdata has data for an old docker i uninstalled previously and system has libvert folder in it I rechecked and both shares are set to cache yes but clicking the mover wont shift the last 1.9gig from the ssd whats the next step? @apandey.... said I would be back
  12. app data, domains and system all currently set to cache prefered so think im good to go regarding step 7. Thanks apandey I will be back shortly when it all goes wrong 😄
  13. Ok here we go.... Back when I first got Unraid I set up xfs for the array so assumed the cache drive would be best in the same format. I now have an identical ssd to mirror the cache and have discovered it must be in btrfs to do this. My question is do I use the move cache to the array, format cache drives to btrfs set up mirror and then move it back from the array or is it a start again and reinstall every thing from scratch?
  14. Cheers Squid Yes I am accessing remotley. Was hoping i had missed a check box or somthing 😆 I will work through the above info you have given me and see how I get on. I can access the server to reboot and update etc so thats a start. All started when my wife tried to remote access radarr and sonnar from her phone where I had saved them as faviourites in her browser to add some downloads because I hadnt explained it was local only. Thought My Server might have been the solution but seems I have more to look at. Thanks for the pointers 👍
  15. Hi, My first post and I have tried searching for the above issue. I have followed Spaceinvader One video on setting up My Server and that works as expected as it always does with his clear videos. I can login from out side my network, see the main screen, reboot, spin down etc and see my dockers. I am trying to access docker web ui and the address bar has the server ip and port for the docker im trying to access but it just times out What am I missing? Do each of the dockers I want to access need a port forward? Many thanks... marco
