When do measures really mean a drive needs replacing: reallocated events, pending sectors, offline
I have a WD Gold that is 2 years old, has a few years warranty remaining and I started getting warnings last week (reallocated sectors, pending sectors, offline sectors). SMART tests were showing read errors, so I removed the drive from the array and rebuilt the array and its back running again now. Given the many warnings, I then pre-cleared the WD Gold drive and it now seems to be passing SMART tests, but shows the following in the SMART report: 196 Reallocated_Event_Count x800 197 Current_Pending_Sector x40 198 Offline_Uncorrectable x60 Am I correct in assuming this is on its last legs and needs to be sent back to WD under warranty?

Help with drives constantly spinning up?
Hello, I will post diagnostics on furture posts. But, I have found the reason so wanted to reports back should anybody else have the same issue. First I rebooted. I do not use VMs so VMs are disabled. With all dockers stopped, I painstakingly enabled them 1 by 1 (starting with plex + *arr) leaving for an hour or so between. I found that dash-dot was spinning the drives up. After a little searching I found a solution to turn 'Privileged' off. Have tested this overnight and drives stayed spun down. So, I hope this was the fix. Just took 30hrs of trial and error to find! Hope this helps others.

Help with drives constantly spinning up?
Hello and happy festive period one and all. Ive been running unraid for 3 weeks. My disks are set to spin down after 15mins. I know that others have had issues where the disks spin down then back up again soon after. I've installed file activity and it doesn't show any activity that would cause a disk to spin up. I've also used Active Streams - but there is no activity. I've disabled docker and have no VMs. But, still something is causing then to spin up. Any pointers / tips to find the cause? Its a fairly new set-up (few weeks). The only other plugins / apps have are: Appdata Backup CA Mover Tuning CA Dynamix Active Streams Dynamix File Manager File Activity Common Problems GPU Statistics Intel GPU TOP Unassigned Devices / UD Plus / UD Preclear Ive also tried Dynamix Cache Directories plugin to see if helps. But drives still don't stay spun down. File activity shows no activity for hours, and with spin down set to 15 minsas should the drives not spin down and stay spin down until used? But they still seem to constantly spin up again. Any idea how to trouble shoot this as I really would like the drives to spin down.

Log file filling: smb2_validate_sequence_number: bad message_id 0
Hello all - I've been running Unrad for about a week. Was running ok, then I updated to 6.12.6 and changed the server IP address and I am now getting Warnings that after about 10mins fill the Log file to 100%. This is the warning: Dec 10 20:44:18 Unraid smbd[16861]: [2023/12/10 20:44:18.681174, 0] ../../source3/smbd/smb2_server.c:663(smb2_validate_sequence_number) Dec 10 20:44:18 Unraid smbd[16861]: smb2_validate_sequence_number: smb2_validate_sequence_number: bad message_id 0 (sequence id 0) (granted = 1, low = 1, range = 1) I attache the diagnostics. I hope this can help identify the issue so that I can get this fixed. Any ideas? unraid-diagnostics-20231210-2036.zip

Supermicro x11sca-f GPU passthrough?
Hello, I've just started setting up a Server based on an X11SCA-F and i5-9500. Got the basic system up, but struggling with GPU transcoding using Quick Sync. I have read I need to change some setting in the BIOS - but struggling with what to change. Any pointers? In unraid - I have installed Intel-GPU-TOP and GPU Statistics. But no option to select a GPU. Hence thinking it needs setting up somewhere. But no idea where. I have been following this guide:
